Wilson's better than average. If he's not elite, then he's right at the doorstep. He's got a ring and he's got the numbers to back him up. People keep saying he's having a bad year, but he's still at 91.7 passer rating for the season and 97.4 for his career. His best receivers are an unspectacular Doug Baldwin and an underperforming Jimmy Graham.
I disagree, Flacco won a superbowl and he isn't Elite. Wilson is above Avg NFL QB standards. He doesn't do many things great. He cant carry an offense. He is a good game manager and he plays to his team strength. I don't think he is anything special. The 1 thing I will give him he can escape pressure. He is one of the better QBs out there in that.

How about Peyton Manning? Kind of sad to see a legend going out this way. He looked awful yesterday.
I agree. Not going to lie I thought he had 1 more year after last season. He really should hang them up after this year.

I think he is really banged up. Now he has some foot issue. I think he is wrapped up like a mummy when he goes out and plays and have to wonder if the loss of feeling is affecting him. I can't imagine him playing another year unless there is a radical transformation in the second half.

Passer ratings are up across the league. 91.7 was good five years ago. It's only 16th this year. 16th out of 32 starting QB positions in the NFL is not good. it is average.

Right, but 16th out of 32 is not bad. I didn't say he was having a great year. I only said that he is not having as bad of a season as others are making it out to be. For me, 90 passer rating is about where an average QB should be.

True. What makes it seem bad is that overall the average QBR is going up while Wilson's is going down. He's moving in the opposite (and wrong) direction of the league norm.

Wilson is probably the best in the game at playmaking after the play has broken down. The majority of Seattles offense and big plays come from this.

He's pretty bad though at executing the play called in the passing game. That hurts Seattle as to many games come down to them hoping Wilson can make play because little to nothing else is working for them.

I agree with this statement. Overall he isn't anything special and isn't worth 20-22 mill a year. Is he a good QB to have on your team yes if you have the defense and the personal around him.

Your not the only one. I think the Aw shucks good guy persona at times appears overdone and it rubs some people the wrong way, especially when you throw in the all God stuff. He appears to be a good kid but some of the public image could be seen as a bit contrived.

Greg Cosell talked about the upcoming game and about Seattle's offensive struggles and RW on KNBR this morning. The podcast is online. he didn't have anything else to talk about as last week was a bye week.

His current contract info. The Seahawks have him for a few years, like or not, unless another team can pick up his huge contract. IMO I think he is a top 15 QB in the NFL and he will help carry that offense from time to time.

I think the 31 million is dead cap space this year.

Its crazy to think that if he continues to struggle they really can't even think about cutting him until 2018, and even then he would have 12 million in dead cap. You can't cut a player with 18 million in dead cap space can you? Has something like that ever been done?

Wow. This guy is expensive. In my opinion, anyone demanding over 20 million a year should have a performance based, team friendly contract. Like our QB. RW and his agent did a great job negotiating.

Webster is most certainly overrated, and in many ways, similar to Kaepernick - just a bit better in every department. He's a guy that definitely makes his offensive line worse than it truly is. He's a one read/scramble mode quarterback but his advantage is that he's compact and quick whereas Kaepernick is long and gazelle-like. He evades sacks that Kaepernick takes in that standpoint. He does keep his eyes downfield, and gets good chunks from broken plays, whereas Colin is more focused on taking off after his one read has faltered in his eyes.

Neither (obviously Kaepernick) are particularly good routine pocket passers. Webster is basically Doug Flutie of this era - a guy who, if he came around 30 years ago, would get rolled into the dirt repeatedly. It was only when Flutie returned after 10 or so years when passing became easier, and then he had success. Webster just has it much easier in today's pass-happy era over someone like Flutie.

Wilson's contract is a good deal for the Seahawks provided they think he's worth $12.34M next season. I don't think there's any doubt about him being worth that much. After 2016 they can keep him for $12.6M in 2017 or move on, (which would be financially neutral). If the worst came to the worst and Wilson suffered a severe injury outside of football the Seahawks could move on from him right now. They wouldn't have a starting QB for 2016 and they'd be out $6.26M in cap space, but it wouldn't be a complete meltdown.

If you think there is no doubt he is worth 12 million then do you also think he is worth 31 million? Thats what he made this year.
