I got a feeling both the NBA and Starbucks will rally and find a way to carry on without your patronage.

Feel the same way about Starbucks, and if they carry on...oh well, I did/do my part.

No issues. Everyone gets an opportunity to vote with their wallet. I'm not a huge fan of the NBA personally, but I think Seattle is a better city with the Sonics here.

On top of the NBA, the NHL would be cool. I've been to quite a few games in other places I've lived, and it's fun & exciting entertainment.

Which group is he doing this with? Is the Sonics Arena Group the one with Chris Hansen, or is it with the idiots that insist that the Key Arena is still a good option?

Good. The other group is delusional, much like the Seattle City Council. The Key Arena is not an option unless you are willing to sell off parts of the park to private industry to expand for retail (having an arena itself is no longer enough. You need to have a complex) and build an onsite parking garage (the private parking ownership that lies around the SCC is an issue and they are not willing to sell), which would be a huge shame (and presumably illegal?) to do to the Seattle Center.

I still can't believe that they are complaining about Hansen's arena despite the fact that he stated that it be all $500 million in private funds. Fucking whining about possible traffic issues, as if those don't exist near the Seattle Center. Complaining that the Key Arena profitability will be affected by the new arena (as if that would not have been an issue if the Sonics had stayed and moved to a new arena to begin with). Hansen's group is willing to overpay for for the street use and they complain about that too.

I understood the Seattle government's issues with the new arena plans, but Hansen has done everything that he can possibly do to address every issue that has been brought up. I really admire his persistance and patience. The fact that the SCC still is opposing it at every turn is crazy at this point. They are really shooting themselves in the foot.

Fuck you OKC. Your team is on a downward spiral that will never end.

The one man team is already starting to collapse a bit. Poor Westbrook is going to be completely exhausted 55-60 games into the season.

I look at it this way, new commish with a new owner and arena for your city it what most have wanted for years and now there's a chance it could happen. Also bring in an NHL team and Seattle which already is a big market just got much bigger as a 4 for 4 city. Sports year round is great for the city, fans, restaurants/bars and other local businesses to generate revenue.

Yeah, exactly. I think having those sports makes a city better. And I know lots of people who would be really happy if the Sonics came back. I'm not much of an NBA fan, but it's not all about me.

Absolutely agree. The city and fans benefit for having all 4 major sports.
