Gotta start working the phones on a Kipper deal too if you trade Iggy.

Complete rebuild starts NOW and you get a top 5 this year and at LEAST 1 more 1st rounder this year, and probably one next year.

Tough to do, but as it stands I just don't see the the Flames being even close to contenders during Iggy and Kipper's shelf life.

A rebuild might be in order soon, IMO.

Kings were the first ones that popped into mind when the Iggy rumours started.
They've almost got the room, as the Kovalchuk runner-up.

Next year would get a little sketchy, with Doughty AND Johnson in RFA years (Simmons, too)

What kind of package could LA put together that would interest Calgary? Their first rounder is likely to be pretty low (even lower with Iggy). Maybe Schenn? Simmonds?

I agree, I just don't think Sutter is the guy to orchestrate the rebuild...

Hear hear.

He needs to go. The thing is that IF they decide to deal Iggy (and/or Kipper) it should be the guy who'll design the rebuild making the trade(s).

In short, it's never too soon to fire D. Sutter despite what he's done for the franchise in the past.

These rumors have been floating around since Pierre LeBurn wrote that the Kings were talking about wanting Iggy, but had no real talks. I don't know what the kings would be willing to give up to get him. The chemistry in the locker room is real good. If you don't look at the Sharks game :( the play has been real good 12-4.

The problem is that anyone on the Kings in the NHL can't be spared. So if we are talking AHL guys and picks, I would think the Flames would want more than that. Of course I am wrong a lot (look at my picks the last few days) so Iggy in 72 degree weather could happen by Thanksgiving.

I'm hearing that Jeff Marek (CBC Sports) was just on the Fan960 radio in Calgary. Marek is hearing that a package of Schenn, Hickey, Loktionov and a draft pick for Iggy could be in the works.

As mentioned previously, hate to see Iggy go, but that sounds like a pretty good return to me.

no rebuild will happen until Sutter is released with his dignity intact and Feaster takes over GM full time. I cant believe Flames ownership will allow him to trade Kipper or Iggy and get a return like he did for Dion...

this team is only a few points out of the playoffs and its early in the season its a tough time to pack up but other than the Kings who can take on a $7M salary? Kipper I could see going east but I dont believe he will be traded at all this year Iggy I could see (does he have a NTC?) if they fall out of the race by January

Not very good at the moment. If the Flames were to trade Kipper, they would need to get at least a 1B goalie back in return.

yeah I Agree. or include one in the Iggy deal. I hate Calgary Dash but I dont hate the fans :) I dont like to see any team who has a great fan base have to go through a rebuild but for Calgary I think it is really time. This team had its shot too many years past now. They should have started 2 years ago. They could still turn it around they have some good talent but I dont believe the Sutters are the ones to do it. I think you need a new message and a new attitude in that Dressing Room. I could be wrong I dont read the articles for Flames but just my thought.

I could see a Kipper to Ottawa for Elliot and maybe Kovalev and a pick coming back for this year to take some salary back to offset. Ottawa could use a superstar goalie with their time running out with Alfie but maybe they are happy. Elliot is going to be very good in this league better than Pascal Leclaire for sure.

I agree matt, as I said earlier, I'd rather have Feaster or someone else orchestrate the rebuild than Darryl Sutter. If the Flames miss the playoffs again this season (and it's looking like that is a distinct possibility), Darryl Sutter must be fired (time for some new blood in the GM role).
