I'm hearing that Jeff Marek (CBC Sports) was just on the Fan960 radio in Calgary. Marek is hearing that a package of Schenn, Hickey, Loktionov and a draft pick for Iggy could be in the works.

As mentioned previously, hate to see Iggy go, but that sounds like a pretty good return to me.

Don't know how to feel about this. All of these guys could be really good very soon. If the Kings do this it means that they see this as a real year to make a cup run. Merek is a good source that doesn't make up crazy stuff just for ratings. (I have Sirius and get HNIC radio so I drive home with him every afternoon) I am sure he down played it a bit as well. Like I said earlier it would have to be for non- NHL guys. Schenn is the only guy here that had a chance to make the big club this year.

And Dash we have two goalies in the AHL that are getting close as well. (1-2 years away).

You know how us Kings fans are about our young guys. Any or all of them could be the next Gretz/Orr or Roy. Kings fans are worried that if Iggy comes to LA how do we sign Doughty, Johnson, Simmonds and others?

Teams might be a little more desperate around the trade deadline, and his cap hit would be easier to take. Seems like that would be the smart bet for the Flames.

It is all just rumors until it happens. By the time we (Joe or Joan Fan) hear a rumor it is too old be be valid. I am not saying he won't be traded, just any deal we hear is not what will happen exactly.

Ignila has a no trade clause but he might be willing to waive it for the right fit. Is LA the right fit for him? I think it could be. A team with a chance, in need of a scorer, has the cap space, lower pressure, great Mexican food (hey he could want that) and a good locker room. That is why this rumor is like Michael Myers and just won't die, it makes the most sense, if he were to be traded.

The Kings have plenty of depth in all areas of their farm system. If they want Iggy I don't see any reason why they couldn't make a deal happen unless the Flames were dead set against trading Iggy. If the Flames want to center the deal around a defenseman the Kings have Hickey, Teubert, Voinov & Forbert. If they want a goalie they have Bernier, Jones & Zlatoff (sp). At forward they Schenn, Moler, Lokhtionov, Simmonds.

The Kings have the cap space as well. I really thought LA would be a player come next July 1st for Semin or Richards but maybe with the way they've started the season Lombardi thinks this could be the year. It's going to be interesting.
