Based on his past two yrs... that would be a good deal for TB.... well, that is a good price for his output... maybe not good for TB, I'm not sure of their cap issues or anything like that.
I find this interesting, with his production over the past 2 season I would have thought his agent was going for an Ovie/Sid/Malkin type deal in terms of money. Maybe Stamkos really buys into what Yzerman is selling and agreed to take less money to keep their core together. I wonder what length this supposed contract is.
Yeah surprised also he didn't go for more than 7 million a year. But maybe he realizes that will be a little more cap friendly going forward for the franchise to get players around him. If he signs that deal they will need 11 players with about 34 million left in cap space so coming into next season they are still looking good.
Good for Stamkos and the Bolts working underneath market value. It needs to be brought down quickly, or else the cap will stop serving its purpose. This deal should help.
