Denver Broncos traded a 2017 draft choice for Mark "Buttfumble" Sanchez.

I think that is a good pick up for them. With those WR's. You and I could throw to them.

Report: Antwon Blake to visit Patriots, Titans

Cornerback Antwon Blake didn’t have a very good season for the Steelers in 2015, but that doesn’t appear to be keeping him from drawing interest on the open market.

Ralph Paulk of the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review reports that Blake is scheduled for visits with the Patriots and Titans this weekend. Paulk adds that Blake’s agent has also spoken with four other teams about his client, which would seem to make for a good chance at landing a deal sometime soon.

Blake started every game in the regular season and playoffs for the Steelers last season and had 76 tackles, a sack and two interceptions during the regular season. The Steelers gave up the third-most passing yards in the league last season, however, and Blake’s play was part of the reason for their struggles.

Blake played 46 games in his first three seasons with the Steelers, but started just once and a reserve role might be his fate wherever he winds up playing next season.

The Patriots stood pat on Day 1 of free agency as big-money deals flew, but on Day 2 they were much more active. While they haven't signed anyone since the new league year began other than linebacker Ramon Humber, they reportedly had several players in for visits.

Here's a quick rundown of each player the Patriots hosted at their facilities on Thursday.

James Starks, running back: The 6-foot-1, 200-pounder is 30 years old and looking for a home after six seasons in Green Bay. He's a dual-threat back -- he caught 43 passes for 392 yards and three scores last year -- which would add some versatility to the Patriots backfield. He exhibited some ball-security issues last year, however, coughing up five fumbles.

Rod Streater, wide receiver: If the player of two years ago is still there to be had, the Patriots could find themselves a steal if they sign Streater. Back in 2013, the 6-3, 200-pound wideout caught 60 passes for 888 yards and four touchdowns. An injury derailed his 2014 season, and last year the 28-year-old languished at the bottom of the Raiders depth chart playing just 10 snaps in Week 1 and none thereafter.

Clay Harbor, tight end: Patriots coach Bill Belichick seemed to hold the former Jags tight end in high esteem last year before Jacksonville visited Gillette Stadium. He noted that Harbor played as sort of a hybrid between a fullback and a tight end. He also pointed out that the Jaguars liked to motion Harbor quite a bit in order to try to take advantage of opposing defenses. At 6-3 and 250 pounds, the six-year veteran could provide some much-needed depth behind Rob Gronkowski at that position.

Frank Kearse, defensive end: Active in four games last season, the five-year veteran spent much of the year bouncing on and off Washington's active roster.

Sherrick McManis, cornerback: A former fifth-round pick of the Texans, the 6-1, 200-pounder spent the last four seasons with the Bears. It was announced on Thursday night that McManis had re-signed with Chicago.

Other players hosted by the Patriots on Thursday included restricted free agent wideout Chris Hogan and running back Benny Cunningham.

Phil Perry serves as a general reporter for Comcast SportsNet, mainly covering the New England Patriots.

Also have Chris Long and Laurenitas coming in for a visit. I find Long interesting, a good DE who can get to the QB when healthy. Makes me think if they get him, Jones maybe on the move. We also have Flowers and Grissom who can play DE...I seriously think something is up. Bill is waiting for his pieces to be in place before making the big moves.

Rumors are flying that Amendola and Chandler Jones may be a package possibility. There are two destinations that are being discussed.......discussed on the radio not by the Patriots, at least not officially by the Patriots.

The first is the New York Giants. Patriots would send both to the Giants and get a 2016 second or third round pick and OT Justin Pugh and RB Andre Williams.

The second is the Dallas Cowboys. The Patriots would get a 2016 second or third round pick and OT Tyron Smith and WR Terrance Williams.

I can't find anything on either the Giants or Cowboys various blogs or websites. It's been a very quiet day so far regarding free agent signings. Prices are going to start dropping around 4:00 PM today as players start to panic and agents start getting antsy. No one wants to be a Week 2 free agent pick up.

I'm sorry BigKen but whoever you are hearing some of these rumors from you might want to find some better sources. Tyron Smith is not leaving the Cowboys. He alone is worth probably 2 1st round picks. To me it would take the Patriots trading both of those players plus their 2nd round pick to get a player of his caliber. The Cowboys would be idiots to even consider it.

Now I will say I could see the Cowboys willing to part with 1 of their Tackles but Smith just wouldn't be that guy. I also spent some time looking for what you are talking about and for such huge names being mentioned by you there is nothing! So to me that sounds more like some of your radio guys going full homer thinking this is Madden where you can trade for anybody.

CD, when I heard this stuff, I was, of course, driving. When I got home I went everywhere, as I stated to see if I could find anything at all relating to any of it. I couldn't and That's why I stated exactly that at the end of my post. If I had found anything anywhere, I would posted that information also. I did talk a couple of guys I know yesterday who are still in the sports radio business. (I did a Monday night sports radio show for a couple of years back in 1988-1989). We were talking about some of the things that the Patriots "might" do and a few that they have done. Basically, they were more into the "might do" things than the things that have actually been done.

It's the might do stuff that gets people excited, gets people to stay tuned and gets people talking when they turn off the radio.................that's why I started this thread....."Rumors".

Good point. I just meant more that it sounded more like the ramblings of some local radio guys than anything based on an actual rumor going throughout the league. I mean Bronco fans joke all the time about how we are going to end up with Andrew Luck as it seems we get every QB drafted by the Colts (Elway and Manning both drafted by the Colts before they came to Denver) and I have heard the local radio guys talk about it but it doesn't mean it is based on anything actually being discussed. Now maybe the Patriots on their side have discussed that they would love to make such a trade but to me I can't see any way the Cowboys even entertain getting rid of such a core piece like Smith. I mean premium position locked down with a premium player in his prime. Those are the types you look for. Throw in while Chandler Jones is good he is not an elite player. I would consider him more of a pass rush specialist than an all around great DE.

Ken is pretty good at picking up info. Rumors are rumors however.
Chandler for a left tackle and a 2nd I'd take. I'd rather have a left tackle from a good offense (no offense intended) pretty even trade.....

We are talking the 2nd best LT in the game though compared to a good but not great pass rusher. Now if New England was offering Chandler, 2nd round pick, and 1st next year to me that would be about an even trade in my opinion. If the deal went down like BigKen is suggesting well it would be just another one of those Jerry Jones shake your head in disgust that somebody so clueless can be running an NFL organization. So yeah guess I could see him making that decision.

Free agent Safety Eric Weddle flamboozled the Baltimore Ravens today. His agent and he were saying that they were going to visit the Ravens then head up to Foxborough and visit with the Patriots. The Ravens believed them and decided to dump a big pile of money in his lap if he'd sign with them and not visit Bill Belichick. So he signed a 4 year $26M deal. Only problem is that the Patriots di9d not have Weddle scheduled to ever come to Foxboro, at least not talk about becoming a Patriot. $6.5M a year ain't bad.........he sure in hell would never have gotten anything close to that from the Pats.

Just heard on CSNNE that a 30 year old wide receiver worked out for Bill Belichick today at Gillette Stadium.
Oh yeah, it was 6'1" 200 lb...............Nate Washington.

Also 31 year old Chris Long, defensive end, worked out. Long only played in 4 games in 2015 and finished the year on IR with a severely bruised knee. He says the knee is healed, he's been working extremely hard and wants to play for a Super Bowl Ring. That means that money isn't very important. Is BB interested? Of course he is. If Long can be half of what he was 5 years ago, he would be a perfect rotational player to go with Rob Ninkovich and Geno Grissom.

I always thought Long was more of a shot than Weddel. I like EW, but we have some good young S on this team. If Long signs, I would be curious the years. However, FA sucks this yr, and everyone listed or rumored to NE has either not made it, signed elsewhere or were lies....so yeah, a typical off season in NE.
