Another rumor that was circulating today but hasn't picked up much steam is that the Dallas Cowboys have inquired with the Patriots about the availability of Chandler Jones. They're looking for Greg Hardy's replacement. Word is that they'd be willing to give up an offensive tackle (Chaz Green or Tyron Smith?)and a second round pick.
I'd certainly take Smith and a pick.

The money these RB are getting, you can cross any FA running back coming to NE. Forte will still take a pay cut, but will get paid more than NE will pay. However, I honestly think NE should look at CJ Anderson who received a low tender from Den, not sure what. I like this kid. He is powerful RB who can break tackles and move piles. I think he would fit nice with Lewis, White, Bolden. Sure Denver running game was not great, but it was better when OZ was under C. I think teams knew Manning could not beat them with his arm and stacked the box. Curious to know the split.

The money being tossed around, I think NE sits tight and gets the scraps. Would not mind seeing Weddle, A.Bolden, Anderson as the off season moves..

Where are you seeing this? What is Smith on the books for?

I am cool with Matthews. Not sold on Powell. We have enough Rec RB, is his considered a lead back, or it that Lewis?

Per NESN .................

The New England Patriots unsurprisingly are showing interest in a couple of the top available free-agent wide receivers.

The Patriots share mutual interest with receiver Mohamed Sanu, a source told the Boston Herald’s Jeff Howe. The Patriots also have expressed interest in wideout Rishard Matthews.

Sanu was selected by the Cincinnati Bengals in the the third round of the 2012 NFL Draft out of Rutgers. He has 152 career receptions for 1,793 yards with 11 touchdowns in four seasons with the Bengals.

Sanu was part of the same Rutgers recruiting class as current Patriots defensive backs Duron Harmon and Logan Ryan. Sanu originally was recruited as a safety before switching to wide receiver.

I'm not sold on either. But would entertain signing Matthews at the right price? No to Powell. Come on Forte take one for the team and sign with NE. I'd like Sanu at the right price.

Apparently the Dolphins heard the rumor that the Patriots had talked to illiams. They went out and signed him for 2 years $16M guaranteed. The guy was a huge problem in the Bills locker room and Ryan cut him because he didn't play well at all in 2015. Now the Dolphins have an under performing Suh and a malcontent Williams. So what happens? Two overpaid under achievers continue to collect and under achieve or do they challenge each other and become beasts of the East?

Matt Forte visited the Green Bay Packers today. Eddie Lacy was told by the Packers to lose weight during the off season and he moved to Jackson Hole Wyoming to work out with the guy who made the Flex CDs and is a workout Oholic. Lacy took photos of himself when he started working out and has released photos of himself today. I haven't seen them but what I heard was that he actually is nothing but a six foot muscle and some media say he looks like he may have lost too much weight. I'd like to see the before and after shots. If the Packers sign Forte, maybe Lacy will become available.

I doubt Lacy would become available. He is on a cheap rookie contract and is doing what the team has asked of him in losing some weight. If they bring in Forte it will be with the idea that he is replacing James Starks.

Not a rumor......

Nick Caserio Patriots Personnel Director is at Rutgers University for their Pro Day

Bill Belichick is at the University of Alabama Pro Day with old buddy Nick Saban.

Typical Free Agent Frenzy Day. Belichick does not want to get involved in the giant salaries and life long contracts. Not all of the media top 100 are even in the top 750.

Reported today on WEEI, dale & Holley.......Julian Edelman was interested in wad Sanu was doing so he started following him on twitter. Sanu found out that Edelman was following so he decided to follow Edelman to find out what Edelman knew. Somehow, Jeff Howe of the Boston Herald figured out what was going on and started following both of them. Then Sanu and Edelman started following Howe.........I hope that this is a good following

The numbers have been set for WR's.

Lions are giving former Bengals WR Marvin Jones a 5-year, $40 million deal that includes $27 million in first 3 years.

I'm hoping for Alfred Morris. He is 27. He's the best RB available.

The New England Patriots might find their coveted free-agent running back through more complicated means.

The Denver Broncos gave restricted free agent C.J. Anderson an original-round tender. That means a team can sign Anderson to an offer sheet, and if the Broncos decline to match, that team will receive him without giving up any compensation, since the running back entered the league as an undrafted free agent. The Broncos could have chosen to give Anderson a first- or second-round tender, which would have increased the one-year contract they were offering.

The Patriots are one of four teams expressing interest in Anderson, a source with knowledge of the situation told ProFootballTalk. The Miami Dolphins, San Francisco 49ers and Chicago Bears also are in on Anderson, according to ProFootballTalk.

Anderson ran the ball 152 times for 720 yards with five touchdowns in 2015. He had 179 carries for 849 yards with eight touchdowns in 2014. He’s also showcased his versatility with 59 catches for 507 yards with two touchdowns in 35 career games.

Adding Anderson as a restricted free agent might be more cost efficient than signing an unrestricted free-agent running back.

The Patriots have Dion Lewis, Brandon Bolden, James White and Tyler Gaffney under contract at running back. LeGarrette Blount and Steven Jackson are unrestricted free agents.

When a player retires......why does money still count against your cap?

Ben VolinVerified account‏@BenVolin
Mayo will still count $4 million against the #Patriots cap this year but Pats save $7-8m in cap space

Any bonus money paid up front is broken up into the number of years of the contract. Any guaranteed money is also spread over the contract also.
