It means Dougie realized there was a big lack of speed and puck skill in the top six and he fixed it.

It also means he know's how much it's going to cost to re-sign Burns.

I am happy about this deal!! Just hope Havlat stays healthy. 62 points for the Wild could mean 80+ plus with the Sharks. Just has to stay healthy. He is pretty fragile!

REmember Dougie wanted Havlat back then but was unwilling to give him the contract he wanted. He got Mark Bell instead. Now, he has his man. Dougie acquiring two Euros (Havlat, Handzus). WTF is going on??

Wonder how much input Burns had on making this move.

That's great!
Much better deal than I thought we'd get for Heater.

Why do you say that? Or do you mean indirectly.....like how much Burns wants for an extension?

There's gonna be very interesting ramifications from this deal. Apparently Heater had by July 1 to submit a list of 10 teams he wouldn't mind being traded to as part of his NMC, and Minnesota wasn't on it. (TSN Article)

Sharks ship Heatley to Wild for Havlat

Me too. I really thought Heatler would have huge negative value due to his recent nagging injuries and huge cap hit. Havlat has a longer term contract but reasonable cap hit for a guy with his production.

The past three seasons, Havlat has played 81, 73, 78 games. That's pretty good considering he was labeled an injury prone player. Now he gets to play with some great offensive talent again. A ppg pace is very attainable. This guy can do it all offensively. Both players are 30 right now, but Havlat has some agility to his game.

Combining 2 deals: Sharks trade Heatley, Setoguchi, Coyle and 1st-round pick to Minnesota for Brent Burns, Havlat and Minn's #2 next year.
