I think he's upset Philly traded Lee in the first place, citing they have enough starting pitching and need a farm system, only to turn around and trade said farm system for a less talented starting pitcher.

Exactly. The Phillies were just too cheap to pay Hallday and Lee, they mismanaged and then the team was under performing so their buttholes tightened and they ran out and got another starting Pitcher...couldve just kept Lee in the first place, he was already signed for this year anyway at a fair price, and then if they still wanted to be too cheap just let him walk...

In my opinion its like trading a Ferrari because it cost too much to maintain and getting a hybrid because it will save you more money on gas, then realizing your hybrid sucks ass and going out and buying a Caddilac CTS-V to make up for it. Sure the Caddy V is very nice...BUT ITS NOT A FERRARI.

How about Tim Lincecum for the 5th starter?

Well Lee was going to test FA this year so maybe if the could get Oswalt for a few more years or something...but I see what you mean, Chris. Kind of makes me angry but I am fine with taking this.

Well, if he means that, then he really shouldn't be upset. They kept their top prospect (Domonic Brown, sure you know him), got the Mariners best pitching prospect (Phillippe Aumont), and got Doc to resign (something Lee wasn't planning on doing, he wants to test the FA waters).

His back is one pitch away from the 60-Day DL. Huge risk, but with the Astros still mostly paying for him and the fact that Gose can't get on base to use his speed, and Villar has 42 errors in 99 games this year, it's not a bad trade.

Aumont sucks. Read this recap of the Phillies Trades

To the Phillies

LHP Cliff Lee – He went 7-4 with a 3.39 ERA in 12 regular-season starts for the Phils and then was 4-0 with a 1.56 ERA in five post-season starts before Ruben Amaro gave him to the Mariners as an early Christmas present.

OF Ben Francisco – He hit .278 with five homers in 97 at-bats after the deal but went 0-for-11 in the post-season. Francisco has hit .246 with 15 RBIs through 114 at-bats this season.

RHP Roy Halladay – He’s 12-8 with a 2.21 ERA in 22 starts and could easily have three or four more wins with better run support. He’s thrown eight complete games, including a perfect game, and had three shutouts. Halladay has provided the Phils with everything they expected of him and then some as the anchor of the rotation.

RHP Phillippe Aumont – The former first-round pick was supposed to replace Drabek as the crown jewel of pitching prospects in the organization. He’s been little more than cubic zirconium, having pitched so poorly in Double-A Reading that he was demoted to Clearwater. Aumont has had some moments with Clearwater but has been largely inconsistent, going 1-2 with a save while posting a 4.33 ERA in nine games [three starts]. He was 1-6 with a 7.43 ERA in 11 starts for the R-Phils.

OF Tyson Gillies – The speedster was a dominant force in the California League last season but has been a shell of that player this year, spending much of the year on the disabled list with hamstring issues. Gillies has played in only two games since May 10 and is hitting .238 with a .286 OBP. Oh, and that speed he flashed last year at High Desert (44 steals), it’s gone, too. He had two steals in 26 games for the R-Phils.

RHP JC Ramirez – He was considered the throw-in from Seattle as part of the Lee deal and has turned out to be the best player of the three acquired. Ramirez went 4-3 with a 4.06 ERA in 11 starts for Clearwater before getting bumped up to Reading, where he has gone 3-2 with a 4.59 ERA in eight starts. One scout told CSNPhilly.com that Ramirez is a “backend of the rotation guy at best” but right now that’s still better than anything else the Phils got for Lee.

Hadn't followed him, so yeah, makes that trade a WHOLE lot worse than I thought

Yeah i'm not just trying to keep up with my reputation as the resident message board prick, i'm just not happy with how they've managed things lately at all and i'm not going to act like this Oswalt move makes everything all better. I just call it like I see it.

It is not a management decision. It is ownership. They decide our bidget and at the time, they were a little weary of spending too much. We arent the yankees. This teams needs to prove we can consistantly compete so that the dollars keep rolling in and we can expand our budget. Ther is no blaming Ruben here. He has been incredible.

Seriously, how greedy has our fan base gotten? Before 2007 when the phillies werent even "cool" in this city, our management/ownership was NEVER involved in any big trade or free agent acquisitions.

Now look at us, we are quickly becoming one of the most aggressive teams out there. Yes, I wish we got more for Lee. But at the time, it looked like we needed to trade him. Budget wise and farm wise. Now looking back, Yes I think we would all take Lee back, but at the time didnt seem feasible.

It's called the bandwagon, and it's bigger than the one in Pittsburgh during the winter. It's unbearable.
