True. But the Oline has already improved both with players and coaching so LT is not as big of an issue as it was in December. We don't need a RB as bad as we need a LT.

Agreed.True.
Big talent can come out of small schools too.
We don't need a RB as bad as we need a LT.
Agreed.
I just think he's not a wide pick as our round one pick for a lot of reasons. Mainly b/c I don't think he that " Barkley " type RB. I don't think we need a " Barkely " type RB in McDaniels offense. I do feel there are much greater needs and I feel the importance of a RB in today's in NFL has declined
What helps Scars opinion is that he coach up an o-line from an average line. We don’t have an average line! This says it all. I believe everyone on this board respects what he has to say.

I don't think anyone will argue this. But, what is the drop off between Campbell, Simmons, Membou or Trapilo...? I don't think it's that great. Difficult choices for the FO.Here's my problem with taking Jeanty........We're assuming that the IOL will be improved, even without a LT. If Jeanty can't run left, then no matter how good he is, teams will overstack the right side. C/G, G/T Sweep, it doesn't matter, they'll be waiting for him. Without a LT, Maye will be looking to run always to his right. Without a complete OL, nothing will work.
And we don't run the Eagles offense and again Jeanty is no BarkelyThat might be true. But the Eagles went to and won the Superbowl because of defense and running the football. Hurts had less the 2,900 passing and 18 touchdowns. That’s very mediocre. Why put so much pressure on Maye? He’s very young. Give him that workhorse stud RB to make his Sundays easier. Jeanty would open up plays and give our offense a chance to succeed.
I'm not to concerned with what Scar said. His comments and assistance with the kid from BC left me wondering if his heart was more in that comment. If you feel one of these LTs coming out is worthy of a pick at 4 you take him, otherwise you look for a trade partner and hope your guy is still there. If by chance he is not then get best offensive weapon there and hope maybe you can get Conorly (Oregon) later.Selecting any LT in this draft at #4 is a bigger reach than selecting Jeanty. But I definitely agree that the offensive line is top priority. Even the great offensive lineman coach Scar said he wouldn’t draft any OL with a top 5 pick.
Well Campbell and Simmons may be close Cambell is still regarded as the best LT coming out. Membou had a great combine, congrats, he impressed some people but there is a reason he played RT his entire college career. Trapilo is getting to much love putting him that high.I don't think anyone will argue this. But, what is the drop off between Campbell, Simmons, Membou or Trapilo...? I don't think it's that great. Not sure he would be considered the greatest O Line coach of all time, that could be homerism. He is not the head coach, if the Pats feel they want to draft a LT, then yes, they should ignore him. This isn't about what Scar, you or I say, this is about the Vrabel and Wolfe think. And again I have said this multiple times, I advocate for trading down not past 12 and then see where things lie.So the man who could be the greatest offensive line coach says don’t draft an offensive lineman with a top 5 pick. We should just blow it off? He knows the worth of that position a wee bit more than any of us. I would most certainly take his advice.
Well well… so take the best offensive weapon?? Who could that be? Oh yeah… JEANTY.
You say what some of us are saying. But argue the best offensive weapon in this draft isn’t worth it……
This draft only has 3 true blue chip players. If you have a chance, you get one regardless of the position. You don’t reach and draft for need at this time. There is no question Jeanty is head and shoulders above any rb. You could close your eyes and throw darts at the top 3-4 lineman.
Well I don't cry but I get where you are coming from. This all boils down to how highly the Pats value any available LT and how long they are willing to wait to get one. If they see a kid they can grab in RD3 who they feel has a high ceiling then we wait. Anyone capable of rational thought knows we have to get a LT and perhaps an IOL but damn sure a LT.The potential best 'weapon' just might be Tet McMillan. Everyone has picked his game apart and constantly warned against him because of N'Keal Harry. Tet is 6'5" 212# and can stretch the field. With Diggs on one side, Pop in the slot and Bourne, Polk or Baker across the seam, they could challenge any defense. That and McMillan played volleyball to increase his leg strength and improve his vertical leaps. If he's not drafted by by #20, you'll all be crying in your soup when KC trades up to take him.
I get that...well most of it.Agreed.

Yeah Blount had a great season but that is not the norm for his system. For the most part he gears toward short, quick passes to quick mobile WRs that can get some YAC. Loves having big TEs and the RB is more a 3rd down threat as needed or used to set up the pass game. There are always exceptions, and I don't think drafting in round one a potential expectation is where we need to be.I get that...well most of it.
But not sure what you mean by don't need in a McDaniels offense. Was Blount's 18 TD season not with Josh as OC?
A big armed mobile QB and a top tier RB? Who can catch? C'mon. Skippy would game plan to their strengths not force them to play to his game plan.
And this begs the question is Marrone half to O Line coach Scar was? If not then you better get the most talented guy vs a potential guy that Marrone might not be able to coach up like Scar could. He still knows who we have though.
