Great post Carl.

btw - when the Texans traded up to get in front of the Jets - I thought that damn CD is going to be right about Hackenberg - I was silently composing my post admitting i was wrong, but the Texans went WR and Hack went to the Jets. :)

Gives the Broncos a legit FB - and a Special Teams player to justify his roster spot when the Broncos go 3 WRs.
"He was our No. 1 special-teams guy"
Denver this year wanted to make ST a priority with Janovich, Parks, Simmons and the punter.

Haha well I will give the Texans this...They showed just how invested they are in Osweiler to succeed. He will have nobody to blame but himself if he fails with all the draft capital they used to get him weapons and help on the OL.

Saw nothing on tape that indicates he can catch the ball, but a good athlete for sure and strong. I might be more excited for his special teams ability than his blocking/running haha

That is an unknown. The Nebraska coaches did not really know what they had with Janovich.

Then, they gave him the ball and he produced. Very good blocker. Tremendous athlete.

The Coaches thinking at the end of the season was that they should have thrown the ball to him more often because they think he could have caught it and ran well.

Unfortunately, the coaching staff was in their first year, made some dumb coaching decisions, and were trying to put out the fires when the team was at 3-6 and the fanbase was screaming for the coaches heads.

Like all of you are expecting, a special teamer, that might make a surprise or two if he is in the game and runs or catches a pass.

He doesn't quit. Was never injured. Never complained. A walk on at Nebraska.

A 53 yard reception against Southern Miss

Watch: Andy Janovich catches the ball, rumbles 53 yards

I love the final comment about how he out bench pressed most of the OL players at the combine. Seems like we went with guys that have a ton of Man Strength in this draft. I mean McGovern if you watch his weight room videos you just think this is a guy you don't want to meet in a dark alley on a bad day.

7 years from now I think people will look back at this thread and say. "I should have been more excited about this pick, because this guy has become a fan favorite"

Not a guy who is gonna flash for ya or turn your franchise around with great upside, but a guy who will be around a long time doing the dirty work.

It was kind of nice to see 3 FB's go in this draft. Seems like lately we have had about 1 a year.

Anyone notice something similar about the 3 that went( I think only 3 went off the top of my head)

Janovich
Vitale
Watt

Other then the fact that they are all white fullbacks, what else is similar?

PS- I feel like Vitale was in college for 18 years.

Are they all from the Big-10? Can't remember where Vitale played but seems like it was Northwestern.

Boom what's my prize!? Well with us trying to get back to smash mouth football it definitely makes sense then to look to the Big-10 to find those type of players.

I've always liked the FB position. Their a completely different breed and the good ones always have one thing in common........badass mofo!

And, unfortunately, usually CTE.

I am too lazy to sift through old threads to look for it but during the season I mentioned how nice it would be for this offense to get a John Kuhn type fullback who is mostly a blocker but the defense needs to account for out of the backfield. Obviously Peyton was a generational talent but Kubiak has to be loving this offseason in that he can actually put together a roster that runs what he wants to do

Isn't that as possible as any position in football. I would gather the high CTE are on the D side. LBs,DB's,ST's. Most the time the FB has contact at line of scrimmage. Not so bad compared to a blitzing LB untouched hitting your qb with a 5 yd head start. FB's that don't see heavy ST duty prob are one of the lowest CTE candidates on a roster. I'm just guessing at this of course and have no scientific/medical reports to substantiate my hypothesis either.;) Meds!

I always wonder how this last season functioned between Kubiak, Elway, and Manning. Elway by hiring Kubiak was pretty much showing what he is wanting this team to become in a very strong running team with a QB who can get to the edge and make some plays while having a very strong defense and special teams. Obviously the offensive part of that is very counter to anything Manning has done in his career. So there had to be some tension going through that transition. I mean Kubiak did say that Manning at one point flipped on the cameras recording his throwing sessions. Now maybe that was just a playful thing between him and Manning but the whole getting benched as a HOF player I'm guessing there was some frustration behind that as well.

So finally this year we have added some more pieces to the OL that fit the system well. We have a couple of QB's that fit the system better. We now have 2 RB's that are very well built for this system and added a FB which has in the past been a very big piece in Kubiak's scheme. I'm thinking this year is still a big year of transition so 2 seasons from now is where we see the fruits of the labors that Elway has put into building up this offense.

Yeah I totally get that. In a way just hiring Kubiak must have seemed like Elway lighting the fuse on Manning's time in Denver. Hard to imagine he handled it with indifference
