Oh, absolutely. The problem is twofold. 1) So are the Capitals, and 2) We don't have a lead to fall back on.

Our first line is giving it to them out there. Unfortunately, "them" is the officials, and "it" is reason to call penalties. Still down 2 men for twenty or so to start the third; that first faceoff is enormous.

Edit: I think Elliotte was under the impression that Neuvirth was a UFA this summer, but he still has 1 year remaining with Philly at 1.75 million.

From a Caps' fan, he's an average starting goalie in the NHL. He's hot right now, but he's bang average for a starting goalie.

Yeah, I think it will be interesting to see what happens with the proposed expansion draft and teams only being able to protect one goalie, whether it happens this summer or in 2017, there will be some pretty good goalies available and it should benefit the Flames.

At this point it could be a 5 on 1 advantage and the Caps still wouldn't be able to find a way to score with the way things have been going for them.

This has been some of the shoddiest reffing I've seen in awhile. The high stick can be chalked up to bad luck, it's hard to see which stick it is in a scrum, but holy molasses that Niskanen call was wretched.
