Just curious - Did anyone watch Indiana vs Maryland last year and come away thinking Sudfeld did not have the ability to play in the NFL?

Have any un-signed developmental QBs shown the ability to be 6'6 240 with a good downfield arm and good feet in the pocket?

We're talking about Maryland Ruz.

I suggested a year ago that he might get a look in the pros. I am not ready to write him off as nothing after a couple of preseason games and I am not about to proclaim him certainty. Let the kid have some time to learn and develop. A team should always be looking for another QB.

Unless someone claims Brown he is there if you need him. What's the difference in him or Sudfeld being on the 53 but not dressing on game day?

Brown has actually shown something...Sudfeld has not. It is easier to pick up the playbook for a RB than a QB.

OK, so if its easier for a RB to pick up the playbook, why risk losing the QB who has had the playbook for four months?? Or am I misreading you? Are you saying Brown should have made roster over Suds? IN spite of the fact that its easier for a RB to come in and pick up the offense than it is for a QB??

I am saying nobody would have grabbed Suds because he has shown nothing...absolutely nothing. He was inaccurate and would have to learn the playbook from another franchise.

Brown, actually could be used by us. Brown plays a position where people are injured frequently. It would be easier for him to get grabbed in a pinch because of the position he plays.

The fact that Driskell was claimed kinda puts that theory to question. And again, if RBs can pickup the playbook easier, while I like Mack Brown... he kind of falls victim to the same reason we didnt resign Morris. The feeling around the league in general is, you can plug any RB in and get 500-700 yards. So having a QB on roster who at minimum knows the basics of the playbook is likely more valuable.

OK which of our WRs are actualy scrubs?? Doctson was either going to be PUP'd IR'd or make the 53. As for keeping Suds... this is more about the future than this season. Had we released him and some one else claimed him, we just wasted 3 months trying to develop a long term backup.

Mack was all about numbers. We kept metric fuckton of DBs and LB's, so we had to go short some where at that point. UNless he gets claimed by another squad, we will offer him a spot on the practice squad again.
My point was that with Doctson being a question mark we only have 5 WR on the 53 man roster. Jackson is always due for a hammy. Since the ones that got released were more-or-less scrubs anyway I guess I can't complain. Regarding Suds, had they released him it was doubtful he would have been picked up, but even if he had been.. 3 months is nothing. A Band-Aid vet is always floating round... if KC and McCoy go down the season is over anyway. MB is right where he should be, but will see him at some point cuz I don't have any faith that Jones isn't hurt (again) by week 5.

IF the thought process of keeping him only related to this year, I might agree with you. But the whole point in keeping him on the roster is to develop a guy for more than just this season without the risk of losing him to another team. Keeping him wasnt only about this year. As some one else stated, RB is damn near the easiest position to teach. So if you had to choose between trying to teach a RB or a QB the offense on short notice, which makes more sense??
