Really? "Free agency with GMSM scares you?" Here's a list of players GMSM brought in during free agency, i.e., not drafted:
Will Blackmon
David Bruton
Will Compton (resigned by GMSM)
Vernon Davis
Quinton Dunbar
DeShazor Everett
Mason Foster
Terrence Garvin
Ziggy Hood
Dustin Hopkins
Ricky Jean Francois
Robert Kelley
Anthony Lanier
Shaun Lauvao
Josh Norman
Ty Nsheke
Dashaun Phillips
Rashard Ross
Kendall Reyes
Greg Toler
So lemme see now... blackmon, bruton, compton, davis, foster, hopkins, rjf, norman, nsheke are all locks to make the roster (that's nine players, or about 17% of the roster), hood, reyes, toler, ross, and kelley are most likely going to make the roster (that's now 14 out of 52 or 27%), and dunbar/everett/phillips all have a shot to make the roster, or at least played better than expected last season.
In addition to the draft, I think GMSM has done an awesome job at free agency, especially with little known, over looked players who can come in and contribute almost immediately.
TO add to this
Will Blackmon
David Bruton- Recent addition so we have no idea
Will Compton (resigned by GMSM) Not drafted by him or originally signed by him
Vernon Davis Recent addition
Quinton Dunbar -Solid pick and good coaching move
DeShazor Everett -Solid Rookie pickup
Mason Foster- NO COmplaint here
Terrence Garvin- Recent addition TBD
Ziggy Hood- Recent addition TBD
Dustin Hopkins - More than Solid pickup
Ricky Jean Francois- BAckup but I give it a solid
Robert Kelley - Rookie addition
Anthony Lanier - Rookie addition
Shaun Lauvao - Still TBD as he was injured last year
Josh Norman - Recent Addition... really TBD
Ty Nsheke - Solid backup and actually a good pickup
Dashaun Phillips - Rookie FA
Rashard Ross - Rookie fA
Kendall Reyes - recent Addition
Greg Toler - Recent Addition
I give him a pass on the Rookie FA's because again that is his strong suite. But we shall see how his recent veteran FA's work out. The last batch was 40/60 at best.
