Out of the rookies which ones do you see being a starter this year?

I think Murphy starts the season and Moses will make a start by game 8.

Not sure I see any of them as starters myself, but I do think Murphy, Long, Breeland, Seastrunk and possibly Moses get some live playing time.

Ya, I just see using him occasionally in Nascar packages.

Correct. Rak is a better player but I do see Murphy getting a start and it might not be in place of Rak.

i dont see murphy beating out rak or kerrigan barring injury

moses wont beat out polumbus at this point i think he will be groomed for 15

long appears to be a guy who could be an opening day starter

seastrunk and murphy will contribute

grant will most likely go PS along with bosler

That's pretty much my take. Except I think Breeland has a shot to contribute as well.

Long is the only one that has a chance at starting opening day, and that is an outside chance.

Murphy should see plenty of action this year. Don't think for a minute that they will not rotate him in for Orakpo. Not only could Murphy offer immediate help to the defense, they want to see if he could be Rak's replacement should he not sign back with us.

Dude... why are you so desperate to see Rak replaced?? You give him little or no credit for his play, and at every step you have stated how he is not and likely never will he ever be an elite player. Murphy has ability I will grant you. But if he were truely a plug and play replacement for Rak, odds are he would NOT have been there for us in the second round.

my sentiments exactly

plus gruden isnt going to lose games to look at rak's replacement

at least not until there are eliminated from playoff contention

i dont see why we are all so eager to let a 3x pb player go who has been a model citizen for us ? because he isnt elite ? the market will determine his worth

I want what is best for the Skins. You both saw the long term negotiations fail. Rak will have every opportunity to prove his self believed worth. If the team feels he failed at the end of the year, they will move on.

They drafted Murphy for a reason. They felt he was too valuable. Doesn't sound like a situational backup long term. They want to see what he can do this year

Rak has already proved his worth to the team. And if the redskins really thought they could find a plug and play replacement in round two, then franchising him was stupid.

Long has the best chance to start on day one. He also has the best chance to start because of injury.

Murphy is second on that list because or RAK's history of injury and Kerrigan being injured (but playing) most of last season.

Breeland could start if you consider the slot a starting position and we get an injury outside where Porter would jump.

Moses won't start this season is my guess.

We will never know how high on their big board Murphy was. The team said they were going to draft Moses, but when Murphy was still there they had to take him. That to me sounds like he was rated as a 1st rounder by our staff.

As far as it being "stupid" that they franchised him? We have gone round and round on this for weeks. You know my opinion on it. I will say it again. He is not elite. His lack of an all around game that keeps him from being elite. He wanted elite money long term. He does not make enough big plays. He is also injury prone. Apparently management did not want to give him elite long term money either. Is that stupid?

Its extremely stupid to pay the franchise tag on a player that you consider average. A year from now when he has once again lead this team in sacks, there will still be a portion of the fan base screaming well he just isnt elite enough. Or that he just over performed in a contract year. I dont think there is anything he could do to be elite enough in the minds of some people. And its been a common theme with some Redskins fans that guys are just never good enough. Last time we had one of these situations, we let Rogers walk and signed Josh Wilson. I fully expect the same sort of rationalization when Rak walks next year.

With us adding Hatcher there is no excuse that Rak should lead the team in sacks this year. Shark the Skins don't think that Rak is avg they think he is a good player but not an elite player. Im onboard with the drafting of an OLB b/c it gives the Skins insurance if Rak underperforms or gets hurt this year. He should have a big year this year b/c of the talent they have around him. Most likely he will break the bank in FA next year. Anything under 10 sacks and 4 FF is a disappointing year for RAK.

I believe that we have the best front 7 in the division. Which should lead to a division championship. I don't think we ever had this kind of pass rushing talent in the last 10 years. If the offense clicks we should be a force this year.

Dean, by admitting that he didnt have the talent around him, and that he still has managed to lead the team in sacks despite this fact.... wouldnt that lend to the idea that he may infact be elite after all. We compare him to guys like Ware and Matthews to say he isnt elite. But forget the fact that Rak is asked to do alot more in our defense as far as coverage and such. I think if Rak is basically told to forget about contain and coverage, and just rush the passer as many of these "Elite" guys, he easily puts up the elite numbers.

Extremely stupid?? Alright, at least you got me to laugh. I admire your tenacity on it. I wish more people would do that. I disagree completely though. Remember the leverage factor. We had none. If the draft were before free agency, one of two things would have happened imo. Rak would have signed at a lower rate(hmmm not as confident about that one), or Rak would be gone, because we would have Murphy before his decision.
