You think Murphy starts over Rak?? Really??
i dont see murphy beating out rak or kerrigan barring injury
moses wont beat out polumbus at this point i think he will be groomed for 15
long appears to be a guy who could be an opening day starter
seastrunk and murphy will contribute
grant will most likely go PS along with bosler
That's pretty much my take. Except I think Breeland has a shot to contribute as well.
Murphy should see plenty of action this year. Don't think for a minute that they will not rotate him in for Orakpo. Not only could Murphy offer immediate help to the defense, they want to see if he could be Rak's replacement should he not sign back with us.
Dude... why are you so desperate to see Rak replaced?? You give him little or no credit for his play, and at every step you have stated how he is not and likely never will he ever be an elite player. Murphy has ability I will grant you. But if he were truely a plug and play replacement for Rak, odds are he would NOT have been there for us in the second round.
I want what is best for the Skins. You both saw the long term negotiations fail. Rak will have every opportunity to prove his self believed worth. If the team feels he failed at the end of the year, they will move on.
They drafted Murphy for a reason. They felt he was too valuable. Doesn't sound like a situational backup long term. They want to see what he can do this year
Rak has already proved his worth to the team. And if the redskins really thought they could find a plug and play replacement in round two, then franchising him was stupid.
We will never know how high on their big board Murphy was. The team said they were going to draft Moses, but when Murphy was still there they had to take him. That to me sounds like he was rated as a 1st rounder by our staff.
As far as it being "stupid" that they franchised him? We have gone round and round on this for weeks. You know my opinion on it. I will say it again. He is not elite. His lack of an all around game that keeps him from being elite. He wanted elite money long term. He does not make enough big plays. He is also injury prone. Apparently management did not want to give him elite long term money either. Is that stupid?
With us adding Hatcher there is no excuse that Rak should lead the team in sacks this year. Shark the Skins don't think that Rak is avg they think he is a good player but not an elite player. Im onboard with the drafting of an OLB b/c it gives the Skins insurance if Rak underperforms or gets hurt this year. He should have a big year this year b/c of the talent they have around him. Most likely he will break the bank in FA next year. Anything under 10 sacks and 4 FF is a disappointing year for RAK.
I believe that we have the best front 7 in the division. Which should lead to a division championship. I don't think we ever had this kind of pass rushing talent in the last 10 years. If the offense clicks we should be a force this year.
Its extremely stupid to pay the franchise tag on a player that you consider average. A year from now when he has once again lead this team in sacks, there will still be a portion of the fan base screaming well he just isnt elite enough. Or that he just over performed in a contract year. I dont think there is anything he could do to be elite enough in the minds of some people. And its been a common theme with some Redskins fans that guys are just never good enough. Last time we had one of these situations, we let Rogers walk and signed Josh Wilson. I fully expect the same sort of rationalization when Rak walks next year.
