Seriously though, I'm surprised to see Monahan and, to a degree, Barkov doing so well in their first year post-draft.

I thought they were probably the most NHL ready but still....

Flames made the right decision keeping Monahan up. He was needed in their top 6 for sure. Not much talent in that top 6 forward list outside of Hudler, Bartschi and maybe Cammy.

The final decision hasn't officially been made yet, but I don't see how the kid doesn't stay with the big club at this point (21:11 of ice time last night).
