Garrett just announced Romo is having surgery and is out for the rest of the season.

Actually he had his back surgery early this morning. Garrett said decision was made late yesterday for Romo to have surgery.

This call was most likely made on Monday ...and I believe it was made by Romo and his doctor alone.

I'm thinking the Doctor pulled no punches and told Romo that any further damage could have permanent consequences.

This should pretty much force the coaching staff to lean on the run.

That should really give us an idea of what Murray can do. If he can perform all Orton will have to do is make a few plays here and there.

However if we still refuse to commit to the running game ...... I think everyone (except Frye) will agree it's time for a new coaching staff

The O-Line and Murray have been solid all season. Let Orton make the high percentage check down throws and keep the ball out of Philly's hands.

Yes. that sucks . I have been waiting all week, reading every tweet, etc. I hate it for Romo and this team. With that being said , I still think we have a shot this week eventhough nobody has given us one. They may have played their best game the other night vs Chicago but Minnessota drilled them two weeks ago.

The running game will only work if they keep the game close. I do think they need to try and keep it balanced,which has not happened yet this season. The receivers will be getting open. There is too much talent at wideout for any team to deal with. I actually thought Orton was horrible in the pre season. If that Orton shows up the Cowboys will be blown out.

I agree, but to control the time of possession, they must be able to run the ball. If they can, I like their chances, if not it will be tough. If they stack the line, Orton will have to make them pay. I hope he can.

Orton can make all the passes. What I worry about with him is he NEEDS the O-line to play lights out in order for him to do so.

Honestly ... I see this as the most important factor of the entire game. Orton has to have outlets for the pressure that is coming. He is not the Houdini that Romo is and Orton has been out a long time, I'm not sure if he will have the nerve to move up into the pocket as it collapses, as he waits for routes to develop.

You can't judge Orton by his preseason stats, he was playing with second and third teamers, many who are not even on the roster today.

I know it probably hurts the teams draft position if we win. I do hope the Cowboys stomp the Eagles as a division sweep is very rare.
