I agree with you, but knowing that Ben has been the face of this franchise for how many years now??? I'm sure he has tried that.
Ben used to call his own plays, and we were a lot more effective on offense, I think anyway.
But everything seems to have been taken away from Ben, and for that fact taken out of the defensive and offensive coaches since Tomlin....

I'm sure Ben has voiced himself to them, and hey if they don't want to listen.......

IDT Ben has ever really called his own plays. I think there was always a play sent in unless it was no huddle, but Arians did let Ben check out whenever felt the need to do so. I thought he had a little bit of that with Haley this yr....at least no huddle.

I do think Tomlin had his hands on the DEF since Butler was hired though.

Just seems like his roll in calling plays was really diminished since Haley showed up.

I was curious as to why they shied away from this as well. They ran a lot more no huddle in 2015 compared to 2016, and Ben was calling the shots. That used to be one of my biggest arguments against Todd Haley, it was the fact that the offense was more effective when running the no-huddle when Todd Haley was taken out of the equation. I think one of the reasons we didn't see it nearly as much this season was because of how effective Bell was. Ben didn't have to throw the ball nearly as much. But during games when they were behind we still didn't see it... Didn't make any sense. Seeing as how both NE & ATL were decimating the league with the up-tempo offenses, I think PIT can really learn a thing or 2 from them. I'd love to see Ben run the no-huddle more often.

For you, how will Ben Roethlisberger's 2018 year be remembered? Will it be remembers for the highs or for the lows?

Anyone see the clips of the Steelers & their fans cheering for the Browns @ Mustard 'n Ketchup Field yesterday?

That was bizarre.

Very bizarre and should not have come to that as we should have beaten the Browns in week 1 and the Broncos and Raiders. I feel completely and utterly disgusting after hoping for the Browns to win last night.

for me it was like that scene in Forrest Gump:

momma always said Ben Roethlisberger's 2018 season was like a box of chocolates; you never know what you're gonna get (from one series to the next).

It was Manic/Depressive.

He had amazing showings, but also some back breaking boneheaded moves and flatness.

I'd say he probably regressed overall. The fireworks are great, but when you pair them with some of the suckfests that he put out.... He has to be better with where he puts the ball next year, or we're in store for more broken tv's.

Is he coming back?

I know he wants a third ring, and he probably doesn't want this season remembered as his last, but he's not getting younger. I seems to me that he could play well for a couple more years, but obviously, it's not my call.

As far as anyone knows he's coming back. But he's probably only got another 1-2 years left in him.

We haven't heard anything one way or another yet.

I would assume for now, that he's coming back.

2019 is his last contract year. So I would just assume that next year will be his last.

Ben's cap number for 2019 is 23 Million dollars. It's atrocious.

Unless he's absolutely retiring, they need to extend him.

Do we want him to be extended? For every 2 TDs he throws, he's throwing an INT. I mean, don't get me wrong, I love Ben and I would like him to stay but his INTs scare me and have cost us quite a few games the last 2-3 years. I want him to come back next year just so Mason and/or Josh can learn from Ben and learn the offense more without having to worry about actually starting every game.
