He was off tonight. In this as well as other ABs he had some hittable pitches that he swung thru. And Maz got himself out all night on pitches out of the zone. Tough loss.what the hell was that Gallo?

Yes a NL contender using Pence off the bench.Honestly Calhoun doesn't do it for me, but based on where this team is Calhoun makes more sense, but maybe pence gets dealt to a contender at some point and we could reel in a couple prospects, which also makes sense
Yeah nice shot and nice catch. That’s BaseballPence robbed, that was a great play by Reddick

Calhoun was the headliner in the Darvish trade. I can see why the organization wants to see what he can do for the club.
I was going to say that Pence looks like a guy who could be in the every day lineup as long as he stays healthy.Or an AL contender that needs a DH/COF

We lost because of the shit sandwich lineup that they ran out there against a left handed starter.

Mazara, Choo, Odor, Guzman, Gallo, and Mathis.
5 guys who are already at a disadvantage before they even swing the bat and a guy who can’t hit anyone.
THIS WAS SUPPOSED TO BE PART OF THE ABOVE POST BUT THE "EDIT" TIME IS WAY TOO SHORT...
We went into ST needing RHed bats to fill out the lineup and we got them and they are doing well "so far", so plug them in when it makes the most sense and pray for the best.
I would have used Santana, Forsythe, and even thought about finding a way to get IKF’s bat in there.
Yeah.....the lineup yesterday sucked ass and looked like it was in a comatose state until the 9th inning.
Gallo and Choo weren't going to come out and Guzman was going to play just having come off the DL but definitely would've sat Odor & Mazara though
I didn’t see much that justified Mazara or Guzman’s presence yesterday.
Mazara is struggling this year and Guzman is a kid who we have no long term commitment too. Either our players are a bunch of prima donnas who want to play at the expense of the team or Woodward needs to sack up, do his job, and put the best line up possible out there against our division rivals in their own building.
Guzman showed quite a bit of improvement last year, but he needs seasoning, he's an example of a player we need to be evaluating this year, so yeah he should play, his playing isn't at the expense of the team, its for the betterment, if you can't see that, then you truly are a buffoon
Mazara has had ample opportunities at this point and hasn't really gotten better, his evaluation window is getting razor thin, along with Odor's
This season isn't about winning, its about evaluation of potentially ML ready players; like Guzman, Gallo, DDJ (seems if that question has been answered for the time being), Mazara and Odor
Choo, Cabrera, Pence Santana and Forsythe are veteran stopgaps; and Cabrera is only here because we don't have anyone close anymore to play 3B, and the others are veterans you don't mind sitting on the bench several times a week or putting them in the place of a young guy thats struggling or getting lazy, to set an example (they should be doing more of this, IMO)
I understand that this season isn’t about winning, but we should still be mindful of the standings and where the team is at the moment. We’re still not that far behind the Astros.
The longer this team stays “in the hunt”, the better. The kids should know what it feels like to play in meaningful games where the team is actually trying to win. If this was August and we were 20 games back, I wouldn’t have posted my displeasure with the lineup, but we’re not there yet.
The manager and this team should be trying to strike a balance between development and winning right now. It’s both good for the players and the fans who they will be raising ticket prices on for the foreseeable future.
I liked Guzman's ABs. He takes good cuts and does not look like he is fooled most of the time. He has had very few ABs this year and I would play this guy into the ground for the next couple of years.I didn’t see much that justified Mazara or Guzman’s presence yesterday.

Anyone in the rotation, not named Minor, tells you we are not in the hunt.
