One question for the locals, what's the deal with "potato salad"?

I have always assumed it is to make Polls more accurate so that you can gauge interest instead of limiting it to just x,y, z options you can also get the people who say i dont care/give a fuck and you also keep people from selecting x y or z who would otherwise select potato salad so less noise. That is what ive always assumed. Why its potato salad i have no earthly idea but its been that way when creating a poll so just roll with the punches.

As long as your poll has potato salad option you shouldnt get flamed too hard

might need to ask more of the elders here for a better answer.
