It's probably a bit early to discuss this since the news is still fresh, but will the HOF waive the final year of Halladay's wait? He's scheduled to become HOF eligible in 2018. The HOF has often waived the wait for players who have passed away (see Roberto Clemente, Thurman Munson, and Darryl Kile for example). And if they do, what effect will that have on this year's balloting? I'm not sure that Halladay is a lock to be a 1st ballot HOFer, but he's likely to draw significant support.

I disagree with the first part. While I think most of the jokes were from people that didn't give a shit one way or the other, those that formed a connection deal with grief differently. I say a connection, as people will say it's not like you knew the guy. As a sports fan, you form connections with players. Roy was the best pitcher I have ever seen play for the Phillies in my lifetime, he was also the most humble. The connection and respect he had with Ruiz and vice versa was great. Two of my favorites. I was reading things all day that reflected on the life of the man, very somber day. A laugh here and there is a way to cope, that being said, didn't care for the one referenced.
