there will be another pat quinn night later in the year with his family present ... there is talk it might be the saturday night game against the leafs 3 days before St Patricks Day ... as Dave Pratt would say ... "how good is that?"

It's fitting.

I think it would be pretty cool if the Canucks wore these jerseys for that game...

Thanks for sharing.

Great rendition.

This one gets me, I shed a tear every time as it was Dad's favorite song (along with Ave Maria).

Funny thing is, my older brother an I (out of the 5 kids) were pretty stoic for the family through Pops whole illness and passing. We both made it through the wake with Mom, funeral Mass, hysterical Eulogy from the priest about Pop always telling him about things needing repair or how things could be done better. Even made it through the Ave Maria as the Eucharistic song; but when the 4 boys were called up to carry the casket from the Altar and the organ began this song....we lost our shit!

Thanks again man! :suds:

people were throwing that idea out there ... the Leafs are going to be wearing the same PQ patch on their jerseys ... I dont think the canucks can wear that jersey cause its not approved as a 3rd but it would be cool ... blake price was saying how bout the leafs wear a green maple leafs jersey and the canucks wear the original stick in rink that Quinn wore with the canucks

I liked the guy as much as anyone, but calm the fuck down. He played 99 games for the team, and coached them to two conference finals. Did the Wings wear a patch when Probert died?

Quinn was a mediocre hockey player, a decent coach and a likeable guy. Can we not pretend Jonny Bower just passed?

yah I wasnt expecting the Leafs to wear the patch all season ... in fact Im glad theyre not trying to co-opt him as "their own" (toronto media is tryin hard though) ... he was much more transformational with the canucks and their franchise history ... only a blip in the Leafs ... as Lord Linden said yesterday, he was playing to home crowds of 8000 when Quinn first got to vancouver ... Linden also said Toronto was "just a job" to Pat

Wonder what the comment is about his stint with the Fly-boys?

Quinn was idolized in Vancouver. I think he's always going to be known more for what he did with the Canucks than he did with the Leafs, especially by Canucks fans. And that makes worlds of sense.

I mean, we go back a decade and what we're talking about regarding Pat Quinn in Toronto is the Muskoka Five and the Corson/Mogilny incident and the fact Sundin never got a proper scoring winger to play alongside (besides Mogilny), or the trade deadlines he "stood Pat" or the lack of free agent signings when he had unlimited money to make them. There was plenty of criticism of Quinn to go around in those days, criticism that obviously is muted in his passing but criticism nonetheless that shaped his legacy in Toronto.

Wearing a patch for a couple games is plenty tribute.

Sir... I had the To***to Maple Leafs in my sights. They saw me move in for the kill. They proceeded below the hard-deck. We were below for just a few seconds. I had the shot. There was no danger, so I took it.
