John Johnson, a two-time All-Star forward with theCleveland Cavaliers who helped the Seattle SuperSonics win the 1979 NBA title, has died. He was 68.

Johnson's godson, John Herndon, said Friday that Johnson died Thursday at his San Jose home. The cause of death wasn't known.

Thanks for the memories John! May you find Freddie in the corner for the 3 ball forever.

He was a vital cog on that team and will be remembered by many Sonic fans for that.

You know you're getting old when players you remember from your childhood pass away.

True... You also know you're old when you remember players playing in those shorts...

NO! I used to chat with him at the pro-club in Bellevue! One of the big reasons the Sonics won it all in 79... man that sucks... RIP JJ

Another great memory from Seattle bball fades out. I remember huddling under the blankets and listening to Bob Blackburn calling the games as a little kid. RIP JJ.

Sad news. It was so great cheering for those teams as a kid. I was 8 when they won the title, went to SeaTac with my pop to welcome them home from DC.

The Sonics really gelled when JJ started his point forward roll and his passing became contagious in those 70's team, of course it helped to have a one man fast break, Gus, a defensive stopper in DJ and Seth Curry's jedi master in Downtown Freddie Brown, as well as two offensively talented brick in Lonnie and Jack. Was a lot of fun watching the Sonics at the old coliseum.
