Bill Waltons first loss ever in high school or college. Notre Dame goes on at 12-0 run at the end of the game and breaks UCLA's 88 game win streak.

Bill Walton: "Is MSU's Pierre Brooks from France?"
Roxy Bernstein: "No, Detroit."

It simply doesn’t get better than this.

“I’m not into being remembered. I learned from yesterday, I dream about tomorrow, but I try to make today my masterpiece. I try my best every day to be better, to do better and to do more. I’m the luckiest guy in the world”.

Bill Walton

Saw some blocks earlier. They weren’t really blocks. He jumped to up and just grabbed shots out of the air and then almost instant outlet pass breaking back the other way.

Ainge was talking earlier how he was basically a point center.

Hey Bill,

We’re gonna need more energy, more hyperbole and more passion.

Said no one ever!

Hahahaha.

Got damn will I ever love this Man until I’m done loving things. What a beauty he was. Just a treasure.

Like Captain Kidd buried centuries ago.

Like Indiana Jones tried to hide from the NAZIs. Like NASA hides from us on the far side of the moon. For reasons we’re not ready to understand. Or comprehend.

This goofy kid from San Diego, this grounded ginger with a taste for self determination…. He had the Midas touch. And just like the Conference of Champions, the beautiful Pacific 12, the glorious PAC-10, the ground breaking PAC-8,…..he held himself to a standard. A higher standard. Not just to be the best. But to lead the best.

To do all he could, with everything he could use. Even his elbows and his improperly formed ankles.

Hot knives go through butter, just as intended. But it takes forethought and focus to spread love around like William Theodore Walton the third.

The California Kid. The Red headed big man. The guy that just loved basketball.

UCLA was 84-4 in his playing days. Three Final Fours, two titles. Lost in 1974 to a awesome NC State team and David Thompson by three in OT. In the 1973 NCAA title game, Walton scored 44 points and was 22 of 23 from the field. A CBB layer did that now, they would name bridges after him

He does have a gym named after him and a statue, not too shabby.

Very touching. Breen tells a story about Bill and his dad who had Parkinson's.....starts at around the 4 minute, 28 second mark if you do not want to watch the entire segment (it is almost 9 minutes).

Maybe the greatest college basketball player of all time. It was so sad to see him hobbling around on bad feet and knees as a pro. That one year in Portland, 1977, was really something

One of my favorite Walton moments was when he was calling a CU game for the Pac 12 network and called Boulder the epicenter of the universe.
