Newhouse was on the first Cowboys team I ever liked. Back in those days the FB actually carried the ball 12 to 15 times a game. Pretty good player

His TD pass to Golden Richards will be etched in my memory banks until I croak.

He mattered.

Loved him. What a different World the NFL was then. 5'10 and 209lbs??? Played like a guy 240lbs today...

When I think FB and throwing the ball I always think of those left handed passes by Ron Springs. When I think Newhouse I think of 3rd and 1 and he seemed to get 1 1/2 every time.

I would have thought he weighed that as well. I looked up Springs- he was 213.

as soon as I saw 44 my 1st thought went to Newhouse.
RIP

I was told he had massive thighs where they had to customize his thigh pads to fit in his uniform. (back when they all wore thigh pads)

64 is too young. I loved those low to the ground backs. I saw a comment that said it was like trying to tackle a fire hydrant when it came to Newhouse.

Rest in peace.

64 is too young. I lost my mom in 2006 and my dad in 2010. They were 56 and 63. I thought that was rough. Then I lost a former baseball player 2 yrs ago . He was 31. 2 yrs ago at this time he was normal. A month later he was diagnosed with colon cancer and died 2 weeks later. I don't feel cheated anymore.

I also thought Newhouse when I seen 44... He played at 209? Man he seemed 250. Great player, not a big Cowboy fan but I liked Newhouse. R.I.P.

I wanted a neck roll so bad as a little kid. I remember playing backyard football with a towel wrapped around my neck , pretending it was a neck roll ha.

Shame he's gone so soon.

He was a significant part of many very good Cowboy offenses.
