Because of that racial slur video, that whole Eagles locker room might be devided.

Doubt it. If Im making millions of dollars, I can dislike a guy and not let it affect my job. Worst case, he gets a few less targets. But when push comes to shove, no one in that locker room will let it affect their play.

McCoy isnt throwing him the ball, and isnt going to do anything to make the team lose in order to make Cooper look bad. Every grown man has worked with some one he doesnt like at some point and time. As long as Cooper shows up on Sunday, and doesnt use the N-word to any ones face in the locker room, its a non issue on Sundays.

It may, it may not. What will be interesting to see is what opponents do when he comes to town. He's going to get some shit. The question is will his team rally behind him or not. Shady clearly won't. He's told the FO that he doesn't want to be in the same locker room with the guy. Vick, however, has come out in support.

It will also be interesting to see how Kelly handles this situation and is capable of diffusing this potential locker room bomb.

I doubt he remains on their roster. They'll most likely cut him.

Just go to the main NFL board - there is a pretty good thread on this topic (it is one of the first ones listed). Also - google his name & there will be tons of links that have the video.

I am curious if people here believe that the Eagles would have dumped Cooper if Macklin did not sustain a season ending injury. I have my doubts. Also - if this continues to be an issue (even due to sustained media pressure) they still might dump the guy since the issue will be a big distraction (and no way does anyone pick him up - at least not for a while).

Based on the arrest record of their students/graduates and my impressions of Florida grads on the SportsHoopla, I think that has to be the dumbest college in America by far.

Pretty ignorant statement from Mr. Cooper. It rolled off his tongue like this wasn't the first time he said it.

Hope our guys clean his clock when we play them.

Here is my thing. You cant legislate prejudice out of existence. So we make it illegal to say the word in public. Evil kept in the dark tends to spread alot faster. I would much rather know up front the guy Im working for or with is a racist pig if thats the case. Make no mistake, Cooper isn't being punished for using the word, he is being punished for being CAUGHT using the word.

I never use the N word and can't stand it because it is so divisive.

That being said, if you suspend or hold it against him, you have to suspend every person that uses it.

I don't disagree with anything that you say. However - it goes much deeper than this. Imagine anyone in this or a similar situation. Once they return to work it is going to be extremely uncomfortable to the point of being unproductive to both the offender & people around him.

This may or may not be the way it should be, but it is reality. I truly believe that they will ultimately release him partially due to the fact that he is a decent but not a great player. If he were a Pro-bowler it would be a different story. Again - this may not be the way things are supposed to be, but we don't live in a perfect world - far from it.

He was not suspended - only fined which he did not dispute. They might eventually release him which is their right. You don't have to do anything illegal or immoral to be released, traded, etc. No different than say cutting someone simply because they have a major beef with the starting QB (even if the QB is completely in the wrong). It is simply the team doing what it believes is in it's own interest (maybe simply for PR reasons).

I wish the media would just drop it, the guy said something stupid and apologized, now it's up to his teammates to either forgive him or not, how the Eagles respond is completely in there power and if they want to let his actions and words bother them or not.

Completely agree. However - we are in the 24x7 media era where they are always looking for material especially during a lull period like now. Outlets like ESPN always beat their material into the ground & take a story that merits 15 minutes & drag it out for weeks or months. Honestly - how much time did they need to provide for live video on the search for Hernandez's guns in the lake when absolutely nothing was happening? Pathetic.

I know he hasn't been suspended yet. My point is rather obvious though. Equality means that if one person gets a punishment for saying a word, if another person says it, they should get the same exact punishment. I'd like to know if Mike Vick and "Shady" have ever used the word. I know "Ron Mexico" has.

Understand where you are coming from, but there is more to the situation as I pointed out previously (& yes I realize it is probably not fair). If Vick had done something like this the subsequent atmosphere in the Eagles locker room & training camp would be pretty much unaffected. However - in Riley's case it creates a different situation with tension & a lot of unknowns.

Oh well - as Sublime mentioned - time for the issue to hopefully start being restricted to the Eagles camp. However - I know that will not be the case for a while since B-grade shows like "First Take" & "Pardon the Interruption" thrive on material like this. Just wait another week or two - there will some other off-field spectacle that will catch the attention of the clowns from the media.
