Those Rapid Reactions or whatever they are called were the good old days. Good team and exciting times.

Saw what it was called by Murph

Agree.
He was great at getting that RR done. In chat, he would joke that the RR might be late because the kids were still awake. If anyone remembers that...it's one of the first things I thought of this morning.

Always enjoyed him coming onto the board and answering questions for some of us posting from time to time or putting things into perspective based on knowledge of the goings on of the Rangers. His in game chats were very enjoyable as well. Really missed him when he went on to do the radio gig or whatever it was, as his rapid reactions were well done after games.

I really missed him too, but then you had to be happy for him, ya know. Those game chats were great for me, finally... Ranger fans! It was baseball heaven, and Durrett was the perfect one to be running that show.
I just can't get over the kids and his wife, of course.

We know what he would do or say, because of what he wrote when Shannon Stone died.

So, that's what I'm doing, thank you god for today, healthy friends and a healthy, happy family.
It's all that really matters

Kinduva new chapter, isn't it Lainey. A turning of a page as it were. I guess we all can just equivocate Richard with the World Series years. Makes me really wish we won that game 6. Richard would have shared it all with us.

I don't remember being so bothered by someone's death that I didn't actually know. It's been bothering me all day, but then I read I'm not really alone, so.... okay I guess.
I'm glad there are people here that were in that chat room, there were truly some great times.

and you actually met him, I was always so jealous when you guys would talk about where you were going to meet.
I mean Darryl, what ESPN writer does that?! hang out with a bunch of fans?
Durrett, of course.

AND, I'm glad you got to meet him, I really am.

Hardly anybody showed up there and I thought it would have been packed the way he advertised it. I would seat next to him and Peasley. Me with my iPad and they with their laptops 'chatting' away talking baseball.

I guess I should have expected this not to have continued, and it didn't. Don't think this will be picked up again. This sounded like it was Richard's idea. And I don't think the Facebook thing was his idea either at ESPN.

Really torn up by Durrett's passing. Being out of state a lot of my Ranger coverage came from him. He seemed like a great guy, very professional, and passionate about his job, but especially passionate about his family. For someone I have never met, sure feels like I knew him.

Having three young ones of my own, my heart breaks for his wife and kids. Amazing tributes pouring in for him. He will be sorely missed by many. Praying God's blessings and comfort to his family.

I think his death is hitting so many sports fans this hard because he was such a part of all of our daily lives without us really realizing it. He was the friend you checked in with every day for the latest news on the Rangers and Stars. Plus he just carried himself with such positivity and security in who he was, you couldn't help but like the guy. As Anthony Andro said in his article, Richard was the guy who was proud to wear high socks, drive a VW bug, and drink girly drinks. And he laughed right along with all of the other guys who razzed him for it. He was a nerd but he was totally comfortable with being a nerd and he somehow made it seem cool. I never met the guy in person, but I did participate in some of the in-game chats with him on ESPN.com back in the day. When so many fans were ready to jump off the ledge in anger over the team's performance that day, Richard kept his cool and broke the tension with a question about what type of wings he should order. He just had that kind of positivity about him... a guy hell-bent on being the nicest person in the world to everyone he met, not because it was the right thing to do but just because that's who he was.

And I think a lot of people's reaction when hearing about his death was "no, not him... anyone but him", and that's because it just isn't fair that someone so genuinely good at being a sports writer, a colleague, a friend, a husband, a father, and a human being in general shouldn't be taken at such a young age. His article on Shannon Stone's tragic death was as fine of a piece of journalism as you will ever see on ESPN. He was one of the good guys and he cheered for and covered the good guys. I'll miss his articles and Rangers and Stars coverage tremendously. Hopefully his wife and (one day) his kids will read the incredible outpouring of kind words and tributes and take comfort in what a great guy he was and what a profound impact he had on so many lives.

RIP Richard Durrett.

That is going to be one crowded and sad event, and for good reason.

I can't read the Rapid Reaction. I guess it still, hasn't completely sunk in.
