Report's now surfacing that the Bears are shopping Matt Forte

A little more than $50 million, but that's also with some of the fewest number of guys signed in the league. We have 36 guys currently signed for 2016, and that includes such vaunted Pro Bowlers as Matthew Wells, John Chiles, and Jason Weaver. In reality, we have about ~22 guys you'd want on an NFL roster, so your $50 million is going to go quickly when you start fleshing it all out.

Just because we have $50 million doesn't mean it isn't advantageous to take whatever charges we can get now.

I read an article on ESPN that stated the Bears are expected to be $50 million under cap when the season ends. That should be more than enough to get a deal done with him.
Actually it's gonna be towards 60 million

I understand that, but it is a good start.

minor detail, but the actual cap for 2016 isn't yet known, and is generally forecast to be somewhere between $147 and $152 million.
