I think the majority of Caps fans on this board liked the play of Scott Hannan last season and were quite surprised to see him sign as cheaply as he did in Calgary. If he can step in and replace Regehr from a defensive standpoint, I'll be quite pleased.

hopefully for the Sedins, he can conjure up the pylonic skill Regehr was known to show when matched up against them

/Hannan is an upgrade on Staios though ... and cheaper too :thumb:

I am still baffled at how fast that candle flamed out. I can't think of another pro athlete who just vanished as fast as he did.

I can his name is Bo Jackson. Sad, Very sad.

Completely dkfferent category.. both in skill and reason flr vanishing.

Can't thing of any without some sort of career ending injury off the top of my head.
There are busts in the NFL (Leaf, etc.), but having a hard ting thinking of one who played at a high levelfor so long... then just fizzled that fast for no apparent reason, no gradual slow down, just a drop off a cliff.

Ken Dryden talks about the pressure of the big contract and the harsh spotlight causing players to crumble under the weight of fan expectations and the media in his book. Redden was never going to live up to that deal and his skills were fading, but I think the combination of playing in New York, working for Torts, and the huge expectations of that deal kind of wiped him out.
