Liriano had walked 17 in 21 innings, but he's throwing strikes tonight according to Angel Hernandez...... and he's the only opinion that really matters.
Adleman will get at least 1 start and I'd guess Iglesias goes on the DL soon. Moscot might too. Disco isn't ready, Lamb might be, Lorenzen clearly isn't and no word on Homer.
Mesoraco might as well be on the DL and Phillips is still hurt. Hamilton still has a sore shoulder and I think Cozart is about 90 percent.
Simon got pitches when he needed and I put more of that on the Parrots' inability to execute than quality pitching -- on a rainy night. I think Simon is less healthy than the Reds care about but he has nothing to lose by blowing out his shoulder.
I think John's injury report sums it up pretty well..
Is this team sailing in the right direction or have they forgotten to pull in the anchor and rowing in circles?
There were signs of hitter's adjusting early on, but most are trending back to the same predictable patterns. Now some of that may be the league adjusting back, but a lot of it is lack of player commitment and coaching to keep them on track.
Starting to see a lot less hitting to the opposite field and the K train has pulled into the station. Not walking much or driving the ball. The lack of walking and power go hand in hand. If you're not being selective early in the count you're not getting into good hitter counts. Pitchers aren't throwing get me over fastballs to start the AB if they know you're swinging regardless.
Before we start getting post anointing Adleman as the SP to build your staff around.....
He's thrown a nice two innings getting ahead early and attacking the strike zone. Interesting to see him pitch from the stretch only, it suggest a lot of his career struggles were related to inconsistent windup. Touches 95 with the fastball, has thrown a couple really nice curveballs. Let's see how he fares the 2nd and 3rd time through the lineup.
Made it through 5. That's much better than I expected. And much better than nervous Melville who could have been starting today.
Now if we could just get some runs
Made it through 4 not 5. I hope I didn't jinx him.
Sure have seen a lot of parents seeing their sons make their 1st major league start. these last few years
