I have mentioned this a few times. Not only NFL players but college and HS kids train and bulk like few I saw when I played. My one nephew one 205-210 coming out of HS by his junior year he was 245-250 and played DE and it was muscle he had added.

You can go to a DII game and the dudes are just huge!! :tj:

Believe it or not. I remember that conversation and have thought about it a couple times since.

regarding NT ... i expect them to throw some big money in FA at the defense line. They need a boss ... a veteran to bring up younger talent like Norman can do with the CB.

i think we need a captain on the field like Fletcher at the MLB position ... so I would make that our number one priority in the draft.

one of the two position, either NT or ILB, they will have to resolve with free agency. Might be better off finding a savy veteran at ILB and going for youth at NT

i would not address OLB ... if Murphy continues his productivity & hope Smith recovers from his sophomore slump. & who knows ... we might even get a year out of Galette.

and I have heard this is supposed to be a strong year for RB ... potential to find a solid RB with first round potential even in the 3rd

I'd only go OLB if we switch to a 43. I'd love to get a RB in here but we are 2nd in the league in offense. I think a LG and another year under center for Long could go a long way toward fixing the running game.

Couple of things has anyone noticed that Cravens has only played in 11 games and started 3? Lets not make the guy all pro before he has done anything or if we know whether he can stay on the field or not.

Secondly. Why are so many people wanting to draft a NT in the 1st or 2nd round? At most in a 3-4 defense he will play 33% of the stops. We are in 4-3 way more than we are in 3-4 even though we call ourselves a 3-4 defense. Maybe you mean an every down DT?

I get the feeling the reason we flex into a 4-3 so often is because we DONT have the every down NT we need. We need an NT that can play every snap, or at least a better portion than 33% of the naps for this defense to work properly no matter who the DC is.

I think Evans would be a upgrade over Whitner in the passing defense. Whitner can not cover anybody.

Sort of talked about this in another thread. When you go into nickel coverage you can't have more than some combination of 6 DL and LBs. Most teams use 4 DL and 2 LBs. We do the same although most often two of our DL are OLBs in the down position. Anyhow there is no way to be in the 3-4 if you are in dime or nickel.

What some teams are doing to try to enhance that is to draft hybrid players like Cravens. Guys that can play a combo role.

I have nothing against drafting a NT but it depends on what you mean. If he is a space eater in the 3-4 but can play 3 technique in the 4-3 and get pressure then that is what everyone wants and you are lucky if there are 4 good ones in the NFL.
