The good news is Evans probably can't be any worse than Whitner. Unfortunately the bad news is he's probably not a whole lot better either.

He is still young, and has some size to him.

Eventually we have got to hit on SOME of these young guys. He might not help this week, but lets hope we fnally get the coaches in to take advantage of young players.

Old Coach Spurrier will see this as a clear sign we intend to sign Bradley as our DC as soon as the season ends.

On Evans youth and size. Youth is certainly a bonus Whitner no longer has, Far as size goes. Remember when every team used to have a handful of averaged sized guys. Be it a PT/KO ret guy, RB, WR, DB. Now even the small guys, Darren Sproles, 5'6" 190 pounds, CJ Anderson, 5'8" 225 pounds, aren't actually small, just short. They're yoked up though.

Watching the Skins/Panthers game and seeing that none of the OG Hogs were 300 or more pounds and Jeff Bostic was only 245 pounds was kinda mind blowing. Both Mark May and Mark Schlereth look damn good now though, but if you're 35 never guess. They were both part of a legendary NFL offensive line, even if you were a fairly reasonable and knowledgeable fan of the NFL if you're under 35 years old.

Freaky news of the day
Debbie Reynolds passed away today. Or about 28 hours after her daughter, Carrie Fisher.

I have mentioned this a few times. Not only NFL players but college and HS kids train and bulk like few I saw when I played. My one nephew one 205-210 coming out of HS by his junior year he was 245-250 and played DE and it was muscle he had added.

You can go to a DII game and the dudes are just huge!! :tj:

I might feel comfortable with Blackmon and Cravens next year. Blackmon hasn't been horrible. Most of our issues have come from the SS spot. (Bruton Jr., Nacho, and Whitner.)

I have reversed field on this. Berry will be real expensive and if he does leave I see him going home to Atlanta. Of course I would be happy as hell if we got him, but not sure we need to go FS in the 1st or 2nd this year.

We need to go D-line in the 1st and 2nd rounds this year. I think Sua can rock at SS, so we really just need a FS. Throw in a legit starter at ILB and we would be headed in the right direction.

IF Cravens can play SS ... we could skate by with Blackmon at FS ... with the understanding we're not going to be able to address all positions in one draft.

i still think we should be looking for another TE in the 3rd - 5th ... give them a year to learn behind VD before his time comes to an end.

A lot will depend on if we get a.new D coordinator next year that runs a 43. If that's the case I could see us sliding Smith and Murphy down to DE and let Baker play one of the DT positions. I think that would service all three. Smith and Murphy are natural 43 ends and Baker is a natural 43 tackle.

That would leave 1 DT position open and still need a MLB and a natural, quick 43 OLB. DT, MLB, 1 and 2, sign a Melvin Ingram or Chandler Jones in FA.

regarding NT ... i expect them to throw some big money in FA at the defense line. They need a boss ... a veteran to bring up younger talent like Norman can do with the CB.

i think we need a captain on the field like Fletcher at the MLB position ... so I would make that our number one priority in the draft.

one of the two position, either NT or ILB, they will have to resolve with free agency. Might be better off finding a savy veteran at ILB and going for youth at NT

i would not address OLB ... if Murphy continues his productivity & hope Smith recovers from his sophomore slump. & who knows ... we might even get a year out of Galette.

and I have heard this is supposed to be a strong year for RB ... potential to find a solid RB with first round potential even in the 3rd
