SMH?

So what is the difference in a NT and DT?

Why do we need another OLB?

Why do we need another CBS?

Why do we need a C?

Of all your lunacy, how could you not say we need another S?

TM has 7 sacks as the second best pass rusher on the team. How many teams can say their second best OLB has 7 sacks? Now consider he doesn't play full time and went against all pro Tyron Smith.

Long got blown up on one play in the time he has been playing center. Seriously dude...get a clue and take one of these chill pills we should put on every post you make.
Bree land has not been good this season but to give up on him is idiotic. Fuller is a third round rookie. Do I need to teach you about patience like I did Dean?

What he said. How anyone can't see that both safety positions should be near the top of everyone's list is kind of hard to understand. Listing OLB, RT etc before safety is crazy.

We need playmakers right up the middle in our D. NT/DL, ILBs (both Compton and Mason are just butt slow, don't care what heart they have) and a FS that is speedy/rangy and can tackle. In the draft, take the BPA at any one of these positions. Use FA to fill in where you can't draft. Only sign medium rated FAs to short term deals unless a Jackson or a Morgan fall into your laps late (highly unlikely). Not all holes will be filled this year, but keep whittling away.

Problem is most free agents are signed before the draft.

The top ones definitely are. I would avoid them as they are usually overpaid and rarely live up to their billing (as we have learned the hard way over the last 20 years). Once FA settles down, that is where you find the values. Mid range guys looking for a home. Usually a bit older than you want, but they are short term rentals until you can fill the need via the draft. Many of these are still without teams after the draft. I understand that we are not getting all pros and many are hit and miss, but we are also not going to be stuck with an overpaid, underperforming anchor for 3-5 years. Again, not all holes will be permanently filled on our D this off season. We just have too many. But if you can fill half, all the sudden your weak links aren't so weak as they have support.

You mean values like Bruton, Pae, Culliver Pot Roast, Jeron Johnson, Kendal Reyes etc?

Nope. More like Davis, Nseke, Ianacho, and Blackmon. As I said, some are hits and some are misses. But none break the bank and are short term rentals. Got any better ideas?

1. DE (Murphy, #1 Smoot from Illinois?, don't see any fa options)

2. NT (#2 Johnson from Iowa?, Poe from KC, Williams from BLT, Short from CAR)

3. SS (Cravens, #1 Evans from TX A&M, #3 Watts from TX A&M, Jefferson from AZ, McDonald from LA)

4. FS (give Blackmon another shot, #1 Evans from TX A&M, Berry from KC)

5. LG (Trent Williams, Leary from DAL, I think we have too many needs to spend a draft pick on OL)

6. Slot Corner (Fuller, or cheap vet FA)

7. ILB (Stick with Comp and Foster, or spend big and go get Brown from BUF, or spend a #3 and groom him)

8. RB (Kelley, #2 Chubb from Georgia or Royce Freeman from Oregon, #3 Gallman from Clemson)

No like the idea of patiently waiting as SM builds through the draft and supplements with lower priced free agents, just hope he does a better job than the current 50/50 hit rate.

I do also. Just not sure you can. Let's face it. Once past the top FAs, the other guys were not signed by their respective teams for a reason.

I think the problem here is, we have a bunch of free agent rentals or guys on the last year of their respective deals that are producing. Its going to be hard to fill every need we have on this years roster in the draft. And most are not even taking into account Garcon, Jackson, Davis and a few others that are key parts of this team which we will also have to replace.

Here is the list I go so far on expiring deals

Baker
Jackson
Garcon
NAcho
Chris Thompson
Nsekhe
Compton

Not necessarily. Being a young player on a good defense could mean Bruton or Johnson were good, just not as good as Cam Chancelor. Or at least I thought this may be the case. Joke was on me.
