Brian Mitchell makes some good points...

“Listen, all of these other [players] talking about what’s going on with this football team are worthless,” Mitchell said on his ESPN 980 show Thursday afternoon. “They need to be concerned about what’s happening on their team. Dez Bryant needs to be concerned about his own defensive backs, who are getting their butts burned, okay? It’s ridiculous. Listen, everybody talks as if every top corner on every team in the history of the NFL has followed one receiver around. You know how rare that is, okay? It’s like somebody getting struck by lightning; it happens about that often.

“And our fans, Redskins fans, stop acting like you’re stupid, to allow other people talking trash to make you think something,” Mitchell went on. “Nobody does that. Normally — as Fred Smoot stated on this air — the top corner covers one side of the field. And then the defensive coordinator and his defensive back coaches have to design a scheme to make sure that other guy is not going to be one-on-one all day with [a receiver]. Because the Steelers weren’t stupid, okay? They lined [Brown] up in the backfield, in the slot, all over the place, to see what was going on, and if you send one guy with him all day, they know exactly what you’re doing.

“I understand this is a new social media world,” Mitchell said. “I understand about Twitter, Facebook and all this. But damn, are we that stupid to where we’re going to sit up here and believe something has transpired that hasn’t? Did Darrell Green cover the number one receiver every play? Hell no. Did Deion Sanders do it all the time? No. There were times when Deion Sanders dropped to a knee because he knew they weren’t throwing to his side, and they threw to the damn top wide receiver on the other side. So let’s get off of that mess. It’s crap.”

Need to create a short cut path to make this a really great option. Guess it's as good as the metro tho, without the hour limitations. I know I'd use Uber if I was going to games.

Following Keim, Jones and TEs on Twitter it became apparent that while being diplomatic (Master less so) none of them were impressed with Barry's response (ahem - lame excuses on lack of adjustment) regarding his 'game plan', especially 2nd half

Trent wasn't dressed for practice today. I expect he'll play, he rarely doesn't but he didn't look completely right Monday nite and on a short week...ugh

Baker banged up

And now Spaight is again suffering concussion symptoms.

From what I remember last year Barry plays a pretty vanilla game. Lots of zone, not a lot of blitzing. .

Pittsburgh went very vanilla to slow the Redskins. 3 and 4 rushes with the rest dropping in zone.

I personally like a pressure D but you have to have the guys that can get there. If you blitz and don't get there or at least alter the pass or make the QB hurry you are in trouble.

Sometimes you have to give the other team credit. AB and Ben played lights out. Shazier had a helluva a good game. His execution in zone drops and reads was :10:. We as fans often do not give credit where it is due and instead look to find blame on our team. :2cents:

Good point. Just wish we'd looked more competitive in the loss. That just magnifies all the weaknesses we all feared.

Biggest positive from the game was no injuries - today we've got 1/6 already banged up.

Oh we took a :deadhorse: and got beat like a :drum: but I am going to say it was one game and lets see what happens. I have us at 9-7 for the year so I am not panic'd yet. As I have said SM will kick some butt or fire some butt if things don't get better.

Release Lyndon Trail and add DL Bobby Richardson (former Saint) to PS
Waived off New Orleans' practice squad last week, the 6-foot-3, 286-pound Richardson made 11 starts in 15 games with the Saints last season. His 583 snaps record second among Saints defensive linemen. The Indiana product finished with 40 tackles and oddly had more interceptions (1) than sacks (0.5).
