Agree & I guess that the league might make changes in terms of the catch rules. However - I also believe that the refs generally get a free pass in this area when a lot of this can be attributed to just plain out bad refs some of whom appear to have an agenda and an attitude to boot.

Thanks for the reminder SoCal, I thought about writing something about the referees and mis-placed anger a while back but missed the opportunity when the topic was fresh.

It seems that everyone aims their anger and often times disgust at the referees as if they are responsible for creating the rules that they are charged to enforce. Don't get me wrong there are plenty of times that they could and should swallow their whistles. Blaming it on them being overly officious jerks or even having built in biases, or other clandestine reason doesn't change the fact that when the whistle blows, there is a greater than 90% chance of some rule justifying the call.

They are, to be sure, the face and front persons representing the on field enforcement arm of those and to whom our anger, frustrations and disgust rightly deserve to be aimed towards. I literally hate what has been done to a great game. When people state that this is not "your fathers NFL" they are literally speaking about some of our colleagues on this board ( myself included) who find it odious that they hide behind the guys and ladies in striped shirts.
