2 thoughts. 1. Zack Cozart is the best offensive player on this team. We are in trouble. 2. Is a relief pitcher supposed to be leading your team in SO? And by a very wide margin. 15 SO's in 8 innings. Are you kidding me? Just plain nasty.

Votto, Phillips, Cueto, and Chapman are all great players. We should spend all of our money on them and then roll the dice with whatever else we can afford. This plan can't fail!

Nothing wrong with locking down your best players. Reds teams have always had a bunch of 'interchangeable parts' players, so there really is no use dogging ownership for spending money on our best ones to keep them around for a while. Cozart looks fine, I am assuming Rolen will remember how to hit someday, and with DatDude back, we hopefully saw the last of Willy Harris. But LF and CF are definitely cause for some serious concern.

Frazier on his way to STL with Cairo going to the DL.

It may be time to just let Cairo go and leave Frazier as the main 3B backup. He can also play SS/2B/LF/RF and 1B. Dude is a do it all player, though he won't excel defensively, he might hit just enough to be that bench/role guy with some pop.

It's a tough question and I don't really fault the ownership here.... This is the biggest issue with baseball. Because the Reds exist in a small market they have to cut corners on some parts of the roster. We can't afford our superstars and surround them with solid production guys. Instead we have to rely on a few players making the jump every season or alternatively capturing what they once had (Rolen) - So far some of the guys we have put our faith in simply aren't performing.

Jay Bruce is a fucking clown. How many years will we have to wait for the light to go on? He's got decent power, but he isn't a professional hitter by any stretch.

Well, Dusty, if you can't bring in Chapman before you use LeCure and Bray vs the Cards, you might as well put him in the rotation......

As I stated many times before the season...

The outfield is a mess.
3B is a mess.
Catcher is a mess.
SP is a mess.

Jay Bruce is garbage. Stubbs has no business being in this league. Rolen is finished. Mesoraco...I've already written him off as a bust. Hanigan just plain stinks. Leake stinks. Bailey lol. Latos seems injured to me. Oh yeah...the manager is a fuckin idiot.

This team won't win 75 games. They're awful.

Agreed. They simply can't hit. Votto and Cozart are the only ones capable of hitting beyond a minor league level right now. Phillips is hitting the ball hard, so I think he'll be fine pretty quickly too, but the rest should all be on the bench. They've blown some quality starts from the starting pitching. They're only going to get so many outings where Arroyo or Bailey give up just a few runs and blowing them by scoring 1 or no runs is inexcusable. They're a ridiculously bad team right now. People keep saying "it's still too early to overreact", but jesus, they're terrible.

I hate this. This means people believe that the games you lose in April don't carry as much weight as the games you lose in August/Sept...etc. Stupid. While it may be too early to over-react, it's definately not too early to start looking for new approaches to the plate. The offense is going nowhere fast. They waited last year at SS with Janish, LF with Gomes, Arroyo being sick and shouldn't have been in the rotation...

If they keep waiting, it will be too late.

You're spot on with most of this, but especially on Dusty.....he should have been fired after last season.....look at his whole managerial career, and he has never won anything......he seems to have nearly as much rope as Marvin....

He did take the Giants to the W.S. and the cubs to the playoffs (I believe?).

He also has won 3 Manager of the year awards.

So, to say he's never won anything isn't quite true. You can argue about the Giants being led by a steroid driven Bonds, and that is a very valid point.

That all being said...a new approach is needed. Now.

It would be fair to say he has won nothing of note, as I consider the WS as the only thing of note a manager can win.....and yes, Dusty's approach is why we have the elderly still at 3B, and ne'er do wells like Willy Harris on the roster.....

Walt makes the roster. John Fay has said that repeatedly over the winter/spring. Dusty makes the lineup with who walt gives him. baker does have input, but the bottom line is, Walt says who's in and who's out.

I have a feeling, when Cairo is ready to return, Harris will be DFA

I have a feeling Dusty's input had much to do with Harris making the roster.....I could be wrong, but doubtful......and yes, please dump him when Cairo returns.....

If every hitter was Willy Harris, I would have won 300 games as a big league pitcher and be in the HOF.....
