That's why they went after Vokoun in the offseason. San Jose has made changes the past two seasons & they went into Detroit & beat them again. Howard only faced 20 shots & took the loss against Minnesota who was starting their backup Harding. If the Wings want to win the cup they have to do something about their goaltending. Maybe another move as well. They're basically the same team that's lost to the Sharks the past two years in the playoffs. Sorry I don't think they can win the Cup by standing pat.
they went after vokoun because they needed another backup goalie. that's why vokoun rejected their offer because he wanted a starting job and the wings were only offering him the backup role.
As for the Minnesota game, i'm not sure how you can blame howard when the red wings couldn't even score one goal.
The wings lost to the sharks because the sharks depth players came through and the wings players did not.
I do not think howard is an elite goalie but he showed last year that he is good enough to win.
I do agree with you though that they need to make a move. they need to add a top 6 winger imo to put them over the top.
On NHL on the Fly tonight they were saying this could be Lidstrom's last year. If that's the case Detroit should go all in to win it this year.
yup i agree. i'm hoping holland makes a major move at the deadline with all the cap space that he has

Why, what have they been doing in the previous years?![]()
Well the past two years they lost to the Sharks. What have they actually done to improve themselves this offseason?
I just meant that I'm pretty sure they enter every season with the goal of winning the Cup.
