I will guess an absolute mimimum contract would be 3 years, $ 39 mil. Boras will pimp him for loads more than that, but teams should counter with the fact that he has been hurt & missed significant time in 2 of his 6 MLB seasons.

I hope but I read he wants $100 mill plus

Farrell wouldn't commit to Game 1 lineup but hinted Gomes, Bogaerts remain. "Can't go away from a certain lineup that's gained momentum."

The Sox finish off the Tigers in dramatic fashion and the Cardinals finish the Dodgers in a blowout.

Some will say the Sox are in trouble as the Cards will have Wainwright in Game 1 and Wacha in Game 2, but can it really get any harder for the Sox?

They won 4 games from the Tigers by winning 2 games started by the probable 2013 Cy Young winner (Scherzer), 1 game versus the 2011 Cy Young winner (Verlander), and 1 game versus the 2013 AL ERA leader (Sanchez).

They were shut out and held hitless for large portions of the series, but still found ways to win 4 games.
You could flip this around with the Cardinals, too. STL struggled for the most part against the Dodgers and Pirates outside of big plays and a couple of blowouts but its not really surprising considering the pitching the Dodgers and Pirates had.

Honestly, the Red Sox are lucky and you really want to be lucky in the playoffs. Dodgers had their best hitter injured, Cardinals have their most clutch hitter injured, Tigers had the best player in baseball notably banged up for the later part of the season.

Lucky teams will continue to be lucky so this series is probably a 50/50 proposition but am I crazy in thinking that the Cardinals should be the favorite?

On a side note: World War Z sucked. Just a stupid movie. Brad Pitt survives a head on collision, multiple close encounters with zombies, a plane crash, a random injection of deadly poisons/illnesses and maybe some other things Im missing. The governments response wasn't logical. What happened to Israel wasn't logical. Its just a bad movie.

if the Sox are lucky because Cabrera was hurt, aren't the Cards lucky because their best hitter was hurt? Did you mean Hanley or Kemp?

and the Cards should and will be favored

Better starting pitching, Sox lose Napoli/Ortiz, some combo, for at least two games

Red Sox in 6

did you really expect realistic plot points in a movie about zombies?

that movie was pure entertainment

Hanley. Kemp was mostly a non factor for awhile but obviously when Kemp is playing at his best then everyone else in the league is lucky when he isn't playing.

Most teams are always down a major player when they get far in the playoffs. Thats just baseball. Red Sox seem to have some magic to them and Im not used to seeing that on the other side. This should be a competitive series
