It's been interesting to see Mostert's career unfold. He was initially in Philly's camp as an UDFA and definitely flashed some skills. The Niners traded Breida so their depth here is not great and Mostert may have some leverage.

Mostert is a fringe of the roster type guy imo.

41 carries, five teams, that's the first four years of his career.

Maybe a sixth rounder. I wouldn't give it, somebody might though.

He carried the load for the niners running game most of last year. He was a big reason they went as far as they did. asking for 5 mil a year, (Coleman money) is reasonable.

If some team is willing to do a sign and trade, take the money. Doesn’t hurt to ask.

Whoever said any RB can play in that system is right. Mostert is expendable.

He needs to fire his agent because he's getting bad advice from him.

He's overvaluing himself because he's a perfect fit for Shanahan's system and has little value elsewhere. There is a reason he bounced from team to team and he just didn't suddenly become a great RB with the 9ers he just found a fit for his skill set with them.

The 9ers aren't interesting in paying him more because for one they just resigned him to a 3 year deal last year and secondly with extensions needed for Trent Williams, Kittle, and other guys the defensive side of the ball the RB position is going to be the last on their list to pay when they are perfectly fine picking up a UDFA to fill the role.

If Jerick McKinnon is 100% than Mostert still might not even be the feature back because Shanahan wants that Bell type of back that can run and receive which is what they brought McKinnon in for the first place.

I don't blame him for asking for a raise but I think he's nuts for asking for a trade. He was better off playing out this upcoming season and hoping to do what he did at the end of the 2019 season and build up even more leverage for a raise or to get traded.

If anger should be directed anywhere, it should be Mostert towards his Agent. His contract didn't have any incentives built in for rushing performances...and now Jeff Tessler (agent) is trying to pin this on the team. Screw him, and Mostert too if he's actually supporting that trade demand nonsense.

Shanahan has shown he can plug guys in and deliver.....Mostert? He's shown that he can be on another team very quickly if he doesn't watch out.

again, your surface scratching at what really happened......this is like RTK telling me Djax dominated the cowboys during his time in philly......not looking at the whole picture.

he had some ok games, but this isnt good

your statement...."fell flat as a starter in Atlanta"
my statement....sure 4.8 ypc is a dime a dozen in this league

Best part? Now you're comparing my points to RTK while you take a PE1 approach to this exchange cause I said Mostert's trade demand is foolish. The topic is not Coleman, but here you are being all PE1 like. Buy a fucking clue

Coleman is trash.
McKinnon is trash.
Mostert is right to ask for as much as those guys, but anyone, that's not a soft bitch like Coleman or not a former QB like McKinnon, can run in a Shanahan system.

Way to extrapolate that. Totally not true. But glad you typed it all. Our conversation was based on your statements about Coleman.

you're statement using strictly ypc is flawed and you know it. Like I said the same as Djax is doninant because he had 20+ypc. That's fantastic when half his games he has 2 catches for 40 yards. But that ypc looks great. Have a good one dude. You couldn't really figure out the point or topic.

sure a 5 good game for a journeyman RB screams more than 5M over the next 2 years. Elliott is all his line play but not this guy. :L
hes averages 6.0 YPC in SF over 177 carries and 10 yards a catch. not bad.

177/1063 yards 6.0 per with 9 TD's

I am on Mosterts side.
He is now the niners starting RB. 4.5 mil for a starter isnt bad.

Of course being under contract gives the niners all the leverage, but do they care?
Obviously the 49ers fully believe RB's don't matter.

I mean he was in line for the starting job..strange, considering he is running behind one of the best OL's and playing in one of the best offensive system's in the league...and really has yet to prove himself as a starting back getting the brunt of the carries. I can see why he is doing this bc he might never get a better opportunity but I also see how this can backfire even more. The 49ers can put anyone in this system but Coleman seems injury prone...they could be in trouble depth wise without Mostert.

Definitely and his a little over $3M salary seems somewhat fair. I don't blame him for wanting more long-term security but he hasn't proved to be consistent or even worth being a starting RB.

Why not win the starting job and prove yourself to get big money? He couldn't be in a better situation. No guarantee he does much for another team. He is 28 so I still understand his play here.

14 starts in 18 for a 4.8 average says he didn't exactly "fall flat". I saw an injury season for Coleman last year.
BUT...BUT the point is Mostert demanding a trade if he doesn't get Coleman money is fucked up after what he's done in his 4 years

Coleman was so good as a starter with the Falcons that they let his ass leave in free agency. Your take is as cold as ice.

And since when do teams pay people only for what they’ve done in the past?

Prove himself to get big money? He will be a free agent at 30. The time is now or never.

He is asking for $1M more essentially...which isn't too unreasonable and yes I said the exact same thing, I understand where he is coming from. Still risky considering how good he fits in this system. I would bet he falls flat on his face in another gig. I'm not sure why the 49ers are against restructuring his deal so he makes a little more though...just rumors though.
