With the way the trade deadline moves have gone while we were chasing pennants the last few years, I sure hope we flip the script and get some nice pieces that work out for us, vs what we have traded for the last few years.
I wonder how bad the standings will have to look for us for JD to be convinced he should be a seller?

I am hoping even if we are in WC contention, that he realizes that we should mortgage what we can to get better for years to come vs trying to move pieces to make any effort at winning this season.

This team isnt built to be much more than a .500 team in the regular season this year and certainly wouldn't go far in the postseason, just need to many pieces. Sellers is the best option, if we can get value for guys or dump salary

Everyone is going to want Darvish Mazara Gallo and maybe Lucroy. I think Joey and Maz are keepers.

I hope that as well, but I really don't expect he will sell if we are close to a wild card birth. I guess it depends on factors like how far out we are, how many teams stand between us and the second wildcard and how far ahead in the wildcard standings those teams are.

I am thinking it would take a minimum of being 5 games behind the second best team in the wildcard hunt in order to convince JD to give up on the season. It would help if there were about 3 teams between us and that team. As it stands now we are 2.5 games behind the second wildcard team with 2 teams between us and them. Just to remove all doubt I am hoping we are about 8 games behind that second wildcard team on July 15th or thereabouts with 4 teams with a better record than us chasing that spot.

They'll give the team some time with Adrian Beltre, if they continue to struggle then they'll start selling off some pieces

Adrian is usually a guy who takes a couple of months to heat up so it will be interesting to see how much he helps us up through the break.

IDK about that? He's on the wrong side of 30, he doesnt want to play 1B really and he has declined this year. Not sure if it is just a down year or if he will continue to regress, but other GM's I am certain will take notice

The best team in the American League desperately wanted him last year. It's been only 10 months since then and he's a big name who got picked to play for team USA in the WBC. His trade value will be just fine as long as he stays healthy and gets some hits between now and July 31st.

Anybody else about had it with Odor?

I wasn't in favor of offering him that contract to begin with. And now, he looks like he's gone backwards at a horrible rate. So, my answer is yes.

But I'm not at all sure what we do with him at this point.

Did anyone hear or make note of Banister's answer to why he didn't bring Kela in earlier in the game last night? It made absolutely no sense whatsoever.

And I've been a pretty big defender of Jeff, except his use of the pen.

Since Odor began his career in early May of 2014 he has played in 19 months of baseball. That includes the one half of a month that he played in June of 2015 when he spent part of the month in the minors. In those 19 months he has had on OPS of over .800 7 different months. He has had 2 months where he had an OPS in the upper half of the 700s. In 7 of those months he has had an OPS of less than .700.

In those 19 months he has had an average of .270 or above only in 7 of those months.

For someone who is so bad as a fielder those numbers just simply aren't good enough. This isn't a case like Profar or Rua where he only played sporadically during several months of his career. He has always played almost every day since he has been here.
