Got mine ready. Just waiting until the last minute to post just in case.

I would say that's a good decision. I'm wishing I didn't rank anything yet. I feel like I won't be liking the results.

This is a thread for the MBBRL Rankings Game.

This year we'll rank 24 QBs and 36 RBs, and score them by how far off they are off from reality through the whole season. Higher ranks will be weighted more heavily than lower ranks (so the lowest-ranked will barely make a difference).

Scores are bigger the closer you are, get smaller as you get to zero at six spots off, and then go increasingly negative - so going way wrong in your top picks costs you big time, just as it does in fantasy. Gotta get 'em in by September 1st.

(Passing TDs counted at 6 pts.)

For fun we'll throw in some experts from the major sites.

Last year's champ was Ram Tough.

Is this open to anyone and what are the specifics? ie rules, scoring, ect

Jump in ZepTepi.

Rules are simple: you rank your top 24 QBs and top 36 RBs by Sept 1st and watch how it falls out through Week 17 as compared to actual fantasy scoring results (i.e. last year Brees ended up #1, Rodgers #2, Brady #3, Peyton #4....)

But we watch how it's going each week, like a horse race.

Scoring isn't so simple. It's weighted, but before weighting, for each player, it's:
Exact match: 6 pts
One spot off: 5 pts
Two spots off: 4 pts
Three spots off: 3 pts
Four spots off: 2 pts
Five spots off : 1 pt
Six spots off: 0 pts
Seven spots off: -1 pt
Eight spots off: -2 pts
Nine spots off: -3 pts
...all the way up to -18 pts for being 24 spots off (where it maxes out)

Weighting has to do with squares:
((25 minus ranking)squared)/100 for QBs
(((37 minus ranking)*3/2))squared)/100 for RBs

Which falls steep at first and then more gradually.
1st QB weight: 5.76
2nd QB weight: 5.29
3rd QB weight: 4.84
4th QB weight: 4.41
5th QB weight: 4.00
6th QB weight: 3.61...
9th QB weight: 2.25...
12th QB weight: 1.69...
18th QB weight: 0.49...
24th QB weight: 0.01

RBs come out similar, but a little more gradual:
1st RB: 5.76
2nd RB: 5.44
3rd RB: 5.14
4th RB: 4.84...
8th RB: 3.74...
12th RB: 2.78...
16th RB: 1.96...
20th RB: 1.28...
28th RB: 0.36...
36th RB: 0.004

Multiply each score by its weight and add them all together.

Example: say you had Brady ranked #1 last year and Peyton Manning #12. For Brady you were off by 2 spots, so the raw score is 4 points. The weight for a #1 QB pick is 5.76, so you get 4 x 5.76, or 23.04. For Peyton Manning you were off by 8 spots, which gives you a raw score of -2. The weight for the #12 QB pick is 1.69, so you get -2 x 1.69, or -3.38. Those two picks together give you 19.66.

As it turned out last year, a result above zero is pretty decent.

The worst thing you can do is have a terrible pick at #1. Say last year you put Sanchez #1 - your score for that pick would be -103.68, which would really hurt your chances here, just as it would really hurt your chances if that was your QB1 last year in a fantasy league.

I use the CBS fantasy scoring ("stats"). But it shouldn't matter which site - we're comparing to actual performance. Passing TDs count 6, otherwise standard scoring (1 pt per 25 yards passing, 1pt per 10 yards rushing, -2 fumble lost, -2 interception...).

Here are mine:

RBs
1. Spiller- That's right, this is someone besides AP.
2. AP- I would still draft him first though. Safety matters.
3. Martin- Young stud can do it all
4. Foster- Run based offense and he will still get plenty of touches in the red zone
5. McCoy- Offensive line looks good and Vick is back.
6. TRich- Great young player. Hopefully he can stay healthy this year.
7. Forte- Predicting big things in a new offense behind a much improved Oline.
8. Charles- Will the TDs be there?
9. Rice- His drop is more due to ascension of others
10. CJ1K- He bounces back some behind a better line
11. Morris- Steady producer. Could see more goal line attempts this year.
12. Lynch- Michael is very good. Will take some touches from Lynch as the Hawks keep him fresh.
13. SJax- will get the TDs, but the yards will lag behind the elite.
14. MJD- Could be higher if he plays 16
15. Ridley- Solid but unspectacular RB2
16. Bush- Touches should be there, will the TDs?
17. Miller- Miami workhorse has top 10 upside
18. Wilson- would be top 10 if not for Brown.
19. Gore- Bankable RB2 production.
20. Lacy- Looks like the man in GB. How much will they run it?
21. Bernard- BJGE gets the TDs or he would be higher
22. Ball- Hardest rookie to rank.
23. Sproles-
24. D. Williams- Bell cow in Carolina
25. L. Bell- Hurt now, but will make up for lost time in the 2nd half
26. Murray- Will be hurt at some point
27. Bradshaw- could be a lot higher if he stays healthy
28. Richardson- I have a hard time believing he is a workhorse type.
29. Tate- The Texans run enough to support 2 top 30 guys.
30. Ingram- TDs will carry his value
31. Vereen- Sproles of NE
32. McFadden- Just don't believe in the Raiders or DMC anymore
33. Mathews- See McFadden
34. Andre Brown- TDs will be there
35. Pierce- He will get a lot more touches as a Rice reliever this year.
36. BJGE- TDs
