Well our defensive is bad. Funny to see that our only Moderate need is OLB yet some people think we will draft one at 34.

There is no way that we draft an OLB at 34. None. Zero. Nada. Zilch!

TC Van Noy is going to be our pick if no OT(Moses, Kojo, and Bitanio) is there. What do you mean no way?? Plus they are looking at Attachou.

I'll say this again. The draft is not where you look to solve this year's problems, especially when you don't have a 1st round pick. The draft is for long term talent acquisition. These guys are the building blocks to a strong franchise. We may not have a pressing need at OLB this year, but there is a very real possibility that next year or the year after, we will have a hole at OLB. If a stud OLB falls out of the 1st round and into our laps, you absolutely take him. Every great defense has a great pass rush, led by OLB/DEs. There are 4 positions that you can never have enough talent, QB, WR, OLB/DE and CB. If we can pick up Rak's equal and lock him up for 4 years at a fraction of the cost of Rak, think about what other holes you can fill with Rak's $11M/year. This is long term, strategic planning that a good GM uses when determining draft picks. Never say never.......

That is why Van Noy or Attachou will be the pick if we go defense.

I'm not sure either of those guys are Rak's equal.

they could be . they could get 8=10 sacks a year that rak gets for a fraction of the cost . otherwise you will end up paying rak which you guys dont want to do .

add ford into the mix as well

you may be right. If the FO deems they are the BPAs at 34, I'm fine with it. I honestly have never scouted these guys so I can only go by what others say. But my point on a higher level is that if Allen does his job correctly, we may very well pick someone at 34 that plays a position that is not a position of need. Similar to what we did last year in picking Reed. Everyone bitched that we wasted our pick as we didn't need a TE. Well, what are folks saying now??????

Skinsdad, do you think we would draft a guy that we would platoon inside and out?
If Van Noy is the pick, then they believe he will play inside. My firm opinion.

They have all year to get Rak a contract. He never has said he will play out the year and test FA.

This is a deep draft, so I believe you get need first. Lesser talented drafts, I could see drafting bpa only.

OLB...IMO...would be a waste. Kyle Van Noy...if you plan to convert him to ILB sounds good, based on his size and combine. We still have Rob Jackson and Brandon Jenkins. Let's see what Haslett has with an OLB/DE that had a 2nd round grade that will be fully healthy. He showed potential in pre-season but got hurt early last year.

i am just saying van noy , and ford could be there and i have seen what jackson brings as a pass rusher

jenkins could take a step up and maybe this mini camp could convince some people he can

the facts are we have brought in at least 3 olb's ( not sure about anymore ) so the threat is there
