Down by 6 you have to go with the big hitter. A team down like that having the bases loaded and having a power hitter come up is what you would have wished for when the inning started.

I agree.

But will admit, I knew JPA had cooled - expectedly so - but I honestly didn't realize he was 1-17. Still, ya gotta go with power there instead of a single/double man.

2 outs, with 4 outs to go and we're down by 6 with the bases loaded. We needed a bomb in the worst kind of way.

Terrible bench to choose from. Adducci was best choice off the pine but not as good as JPA in that situation

Adduci would have been the type of player you need to get the inning going by getting on base. Not the other way around. Oh well.

The Wade Davis/Shields trade for Myers along with a tough bullpen is working. And the other starters are chiming in. Their issue many times has been the offense. But I am all for the underdogs.

The tigers are sucking, and when they pick it back up I wouldn't give the royals two thoughts.

The Royals are red hot, but it's still early. Early if you're in the hunt for the post season, that is. I seriously doubt they can keep this pace. Although it wouldn't hurt my feelings.

This said, the Tigers are in serious trouble IMO. Sanchez is now hurt, Verlander now sucks, and their BP is a mess just like it was when the season started.

I was watching Holland close it out last night for KC and he has some giddy up. They have the edge in the pen over the Tigers.

The Tigers BP wasn't good when the season started, and it didn't help, IMO, by counting on Joe Nathan to close.

On top of them not being very good, it's compounded by the abusive they been subjected too as well.

Verlander had an MRI on his shoulder, which was negative. But still, if you're the Tigers, this can't make ya feel better; at least not a lot.

Verlander hasn't exactly been good this year, so if they can shut him down for a couple of week and he and come back strong they would be wise to do so.

I expect them to slip up down the road. Probably not even a wild card team. Seattle or New York probably.

You never know. I remember a couple of years ago a lot of guys on one of the other boards didn't think Oakland was legit. In 2010 I am sure a lot of folks didn't think the Rangers were legit.

Hey, in 2010 a lot of people didn't think the Rangers were legit. It was the same old talk about how we would collapse after the All Star break. And this by many posters.

I think a lot of the ones who have moved on are the ones who simply can't stand to read or hear anything negative about their team. They can put up with it before whatever is wrong has had a chance to cause the team to lose a lot, but once the losing becomes the norm they have to abandon these boards. Ironically they are the ones who used to accuse those who disagreed with them of being bandwagon fans. I haven't been back on this board in quite a awhile until recently, but I know it is that way on other boards.

Myself, I just love to talk about the Rangers because I am passionate about my team no matter how good or how bad they are. That doesn't mean I think everything the management of the team does is good though. Whether I am saying something positive about the team or something negative about the team I say it because I care about the team. I enjoy discussing with others about how this team can get better.

I was out of town for a month, and my internet access was restricted to my phone (I hate posting from my phone), but I tried to pop in on occasion, I've also had to move into a new apartment and classroom while getting ready for a new year.... and trying to sneak in a couple last second trips while I can (I was actually at the Rangers/Astros series finals Sunday)

But I'm most definitely still around :suds:

RF, 3B & DH are the only positions this year where the cumulative OPS is above .700

Wonder how many posters will be here at the season's end?
I will be around...but given that I'm an hour later, I may not as inclined to see an entire game through given there's no playoff ramifications ( I'm an early riser). But I'm a Ranger fan through thick and thin....had kind of hoped those "thin" years were behind us for awhile...oh well.

C: .659 (though the 2 main guys Chirinos & Gimenez are above .700, JPA killed it with a .415 in 60 ABs his first time up)
1B: .662 (Fielder .755... and then a collection of suck, Fielder still has the most ABs @ 1B w/ 159)
2B: .663 (Odor .675)
3B: .874 (Beltre .875)
SS: .673 (Andrus .671)
LF: .646 (Choo .751 in 223 ABs, everyone minus Smolinski has been worthless)
CF: .669 (Martin .662 in 365 ABs & "Slugger" Robertson .796 in 43 ABs)
RF: .734 (Rios .739)
DH: .727 (Choo .691 in 159 ABs, but most the other guys have been at least decent)
