It's situations like this that point out the flaws in the current CBA...

Can't they just suspend him for 174 games?

There's no way the player's union stands for that. It's still a contract, and there are still workers rights. Regardless of how much everybody hates him, there is absolutely no precedence to show that his actions merit that kind of suspension, and the Pens would get killed in court if they tried that.

I can dream, can't I?

I was driving home, but was on the phone with my Mom when the elbow happened. So, without seeing it all I can say is Eff you, Cooke. I'm sick of it, I'm sure his teammates are, and I'm sure the coaching and ownership is too. You can't do that. You can't defend that. What's most sickening is that he's a great player. He has offensive talent, and is one of the best PKers in the league, yet this just tarnishes anything of value.

fwiw, shortly before Cooke was shipped out of Vancouver, Donald Brashear had it out with Cooke in the dressing room (not physically unfortunately), and basically told Cooke that he (Brash) was sick and tired of cleaning up Cooke's messes.

That was in that ESPN article on him too, I don't think is was Brash that said it though. Something about icing knuckles and being pissed that it was Cooke's mess. Dang it Cookie, shape UP! Because if I meet you (I say that because I interviewed for a job at a country club where he and a few other Pens go) I'll probably elbow you.

could've happened another time too, but I distinctly remember the Brash incident.
