Romeo-tell me if I am missing something. Could we not have done what I thought by putting Saunders on the DL once he was hit in the foot. I don't care if he actually could have pitched again because would we really want him to? And let Nick make 1 more start and have Colby make another rehab start. Or are they afraid to upset Colby if he was not called up? I still think Colby could use 1 more AAA start.

If Lewis is not on the major league roster by April 10th he has an opt out clause in his contract.

If you would have told me that 6 games unto the season the Rangers would only have 2 hrs total and one of them would be from Andrus, I would have laughed you out of town.

For Kemp, we talked to the dodgers extensively at the winter meetings, but I guess we must have hit a hitch there, because we didnt talk to them again about it

I read that only 2 of 4 runs today were earned and he had some bad luck w/ bloopers. I'm almost positive that Colby will make his first start Friday. That's the 11th so I'm not sure what that does with his opt out clause. I would think he would be fine with it knowing he's in the rotation.

Nick Martinez was sent down to make room for Darvish b/c he could be sent down to make room for Darvish, Saunders couldn't

Seems like they are still deciding what to do with Saunders at this point, picture will be clearer after this week...

Though I'm pretty sure most of us wouldn't mind him disappearing soon, but its not a bad thing to hold back a couple SP arms while we have them

It's still early and while it will all play out, I think folks just would like to see the young kid with upside get another crack at a start or 2 until others get back. Saunders being the old guy that you have seen most of what he has to offer, is just hard to rally behind at the moment. Who knows though Saunders may get stashed in the BP as the long man and have some success there?

Yeah, that was kind of my roundabout point. Forget Saunders and keep Nick. And if Scheppers get his tail kicked again put him in the pen and send one of the guys in the pen down. But I will admit we are on a little bit of a starting pitching tightrope which is my guess on why they do not want to let Saunders go just yet.

You don't send a starter, a young one anyway, to the BP after 2 starts, even if they both are bad IMO. Let's hope Scheppers rebounds and pitches a decent game. But keep in mind he was stretched out in ST and earned the starter spot, and we are still very thin on the ML level for starters.

would not be surprised to see Saunders moved to the 15-day DL because of his foot. then they can bring up Colby

I agree. That bing on the foot might have just given the Rangers some wiggle room.

I can see your point but we seem to and we don't have a problem sending one down who had one of our better starts. And I disagree that if he has another start like the first one that he stays in the rotation especially when someone is going to have to move with Colby and eventually Harrison coming.

I never sighed relief when I saw a Ranger get hurt before. I am so done with Saunders, he should have never made this team to begin with. Would rather have run Hanson out there, and sure would love to have Martinez up here instead of Joe.

If I recall correctly Hanson was due to make 3 million if he was on the opening day roster. Given how close much of the injured staff was returning it made the most sense getting rid of Hanson and saving that 3 million and just stay afloat for the few few weeks or month of the season. I'm not a Saunders fan by any means but there's enough depth in the system that could have taken Hanson's place such as a Martinez/Tepesch etc than paying Hanson 3 million for essentially just a month of work if that even.

I actually wanted Hanson as well over Saunders as he outpitched him. I think it was an additional 2 mill and I think it would have been worth it eventually to put him in long relief role. Don't see Colby or Harrison wanting that role.

Looks like the Cobra is ready to return. I would cut Saunders to make room for Lewis. I would also bring Martinez back up after this series, and move either Scheppers or Ross back to the BP to make some room in the rotation
