If Fielder gets 3 or more hits today he will move into a tie for 2nd place for most games in a row with 3 or more hits. Only Geroge Brett would be ahead of him with 6 in a row.

Would rather see Andrus at 8 or 9, b/c he's going to see much better pitches with DDJ, Choo and Fielder directly behind him than Chirinos and Field, or have have him split up the catcher and 2B option of the day, I dunno

At least Chirinos has the occasional moments with the bat... just too far and few between

Field is what he is

Prince winning 2/3's of the Triple Crown right now, 7th in HRs

Not too many people complaining about that trade now. Not hard to figure out who would have more impact on the Rangers between Kinsler and Fielder.

When I have complained about the trade it was about what Prince would be able to do in the second half of that contract and how much dead money we would have to contend with. That is the sticking point of the trade. I don't know too many who thought Prince wouldn't perform in the first half of the contract until after they found out we had traded for damaged goods. I still think the last 3 or 4 years of the contract will be bad ones for Prince. Look at how much his dad's production fell off at 33 years of age. I still think taking on that contract was unwise.

GameDay had none of the pitches to Prince in the fat part of the zone. 2 of the strikes were barely on the edge.

You may be right but time will tell. But for now it looks pretty good.

Yes, two months of the 7 years has looked great so far and will probably continue to do so for the rest of this year and next. The problem is I am planning on being a Ranger fan for the whole 7 years of it unless the Lord has other plans for me. Reminds me of a long term loan with low payments at first with some big balloon payments due at the end. It just doesn't seem prudent.

Hypothetical -- but what if in 2 years (2017) Choo & Fielder help lead the Rangers to a WS?
Are both contracts worth it then?

Why are we gauging what Fielder based on what his dad did after age 33??? Seems a bit of a stretch that baseball performance after age 33 is a genetic trait

If they are leading the way in year 4 then yes it would. Really hard to see that happening though.

Another hypothetical for you. What if we had spent the money on other free agents along the way instead of Choo and Prince. What if we had gotten prospects for Kinsler instead of Prince. What if those players and prospects could have led the way in 2017 to a WS title?

It isn't a stretch to me at all. Guys that size typically don't hold up as well as others.

His size is the genetic trait I am concerned with.
