Does Perez go back into his slot or Bradford?
The Rangers definitely don’t have any faith in Perez so it won’t be him. Don’t think Bochy will have enough confidence in Bradford and actually in Heaney either so it’s going to a toss-up

I will vote for Bradford, but I think Heaney will be Bochy's choice..

Zak Kent did pitch 5 strong innings for Round Rock last night.

It is always a risk going after oft-injured and/or aged pitching. We have spent a whole lot of resources on two from those categories over the last year. I hope we do not go that route again.

Taveras was in original lineup, but now Carter is there instead.

I guess they are holding out a very slim hope for Scherzer to pitch in part of the postseason.

Minimum 3 months recovery time don’t know how they could think he’ll be back in time

The following are 16 of the relief pitchers who are going to be unrestricted free agents this coming offseason. This is the group I would like the Rangers to consider. After we see which clubs or players decline to excercise an option, this list will probably grow. We need 2 who can close from this list whose names aren't Aroldis Chapman or Will Smith. I don't mind one of those guys coming back, but in a less stressful role. Of course, a massive meltdown from any of these guys over the last couple of weeks of the season could change things.

John Brebbia
Phil Maton
Joe Jimenez
Chris Stratton
Wandy Peralta
Ryne Stanek
Renaldo Lopez
Aroldis Chapman
David Robertson
Craig Kimbrell
Will Smith
Josh Hader
Matt Moore
Jordan Hicks
Pierce Johnson
Emilio Pagan

That seems like the same scenario as Garcia. They most likely don't expect anything from either of them, but aren't giving up hope entirely. That worked out with Heim.

my vote is Hader and Hicks as the closer pair. Peralta & Neris as the 7-8 inning pair. Pagan & Moore the 6-7 pair and Stratton & ? As the 5-7 pair.

Neris would be my fireman

It depends how bad the strain is. Verlander had the same injury this Spring and missed about 35 days.
If it were the same severity that would put Scherzer at around an October 17th return in time for game 2 of the league championship series.

Rather not rush him or Garcia and give them the offseason to heal
