Carter didn't start last night or tonight. Yet, he pinch hit last night and hit a home run.

Bochy will soon have some serious decisions to address. Pederson was hitting .094 before tonite.

I thought we would finally come close to getting our money's worth out of deGrom this year. Maybe not.
He’s only been back for a couple of playing months. I heard it can take up to a season to regain previous form from elbow surgery.

They’re going to keep pitching Garica like that as long as Pederson is batting behind him.

I have heard that that can take up to 24 months from the surgery date. We are at 22 months.. Not only that, but he has regressed since last September.

Maybe he turns it around his next start and we never even think about these last couple of games any longer.

My disappointment may be as much the media's fault as his fault. They went on and on all spring training about him being almost perfect.

Until he puts together three games in a row where he gives us 6 innings or more and holds his opponent to 2 runs or less, I don't want to hear the media saying how incredible he is.

I would give him 10-15 starts and see where he’s at. What’s he at about 7 now since coming back?

He gave up 2 homers to guys he shouldn’t have.

From Jamey Newberg:

I’m ready to say I would like to see Wyatt Langford leading off when he’s back in action. It’s nearly unbelievable that when Corey Seager batted after a Marcus Semien double in the seventh, it was only his third plate appearance all year with a runner in scoring position.

Forty-eight trips to the plate for your best hitter. Three with a runner past first base.

That’s crazy.

From Evan Grant:

Bochy expects to get Smith regular playing time somewhere. It’s a lovely goal. Everybody dreams about the super utility guy, but they truly are mythical beasts.

Consider this: If Smith does, indeed, get at least two starts at every infield position and at least one outfield start and has enough plate appearances (502) to qualify for the batting title, he’ll become the second Ranger ever to accomplish the feat, according to Baseball-Reference. At the moment, the magical 2019 season of Danny Santana stands alone.

If he gets to five starts at every one of the infield spots and the outfield, then he joins a truly exclusive club. In the 52 years since Major League Baseball created the DH, there have been exactly six occasions when a player has met all those criteria. Santana was one. Not even the patron saint of the modern utility player, Ben Zobrist, did it.

Bochy acknowledged the feat might be difficult, but that’s about the only thing he views as a challenge. He’s quite certain he’ll get Smith regular playing time whether the regular roster is fully healthy or not.

“I don’t see any challenges to it,” Bochy said. “It’s kind of the plan anyway. This is something I’m lucky to have.”

As much as I would like to see that, Langford has to bat 3rd with his power.
Smith would be my obvious choice to lead off at this point. His OBP at the moment is 444 which phenomenal but not realistic long term. Last year his obp was 337 which is decent so I am thinking Smith in the lead off spot would give Seager more opportunities for RBIs. It seems plausible that Smith can hover around 350-360. This offense would be improved.
At this point Semian is going to cost this team wins with a 190 OBP if he has not already. He will probably improve some but the signs were there last year of regression. He is going to be 35 in Sept so this is not going to get better

Very good observation. Agree completely.

From Jamey Newberg:

The Rangers are 1-4 in series openers.

They’re 8-1 in all other games.
