If something is wrong with him he needs to be on the IL till he gets right. He definitely doesn’t need to be competing at the all star game.

Wyatt is 0 for his last 19......at some point I feel like it cant be all not he players, as Smith is the only one that seems to have much success this year. Occasionally Seager but he's great hitter for his career. He should have good spells even in a down year but man.....

Seager on May 2 was hitting 219 with 2 HRs so the fact he is up to 270 with 18 HRs is pretty good. He had a much worse year 2 years ago.

Semien has raised his average by 10 points in the last week.

Langford is 0-20. Good time for the All Star break.

Smith was 5-20 coming into this game with 3 of those hits coming in one game so he was struggling some. I say that because Semien and Seager were setting us up for some big innings but the heart of the lineup was not coming through. So it was great to see Smith do what he did today.

This morning I said this: "Houston should be favored in this game today with Blanco pitching. But hoping for a miraculous win." I guess that was the "miraculous win" part I was hoping for.

I think it is safe to say that the bottom of the 5th with bases loaded and 0 outs was the key to this game. Sborz did to Houston what we have been doing to ourselves many times this year.

Fagg said the scouting group isn’t leaning one way or another when it comes to high school or college players, and picking so late doesn’t change the risk versus reward of a prep player. They just want to make sure they select the best player available for the Texas Rangers.


“They're all risks,” Fagg said. “There's risk everywhere you pick. I’ve lost a lot of sleep over some guys we’ve taken in the past. As far as risk, it doesn’t matter if you do any of the work and how good you feel about the player. I don’t really think it’s riskier to take certain players. Everybody thought Evan Carter was a risk. I don’t think it was that risky, because of the work we did and knowing how good we felt about the kid and the player.”

That is not good as it causes one more good player to be taken before we pick.

In our last 9 games we went 7-2 and took all 3 series. Scherzer said he does not want to be traded because he feels the Rangers can still win this thing. I hope he is right. Having a stubborn mule like Scherzer in the dugout may rub off. Time will tell.

That is doable if we swing the bats but we can't rely on Smith like today.
